He's a British hw so my default is to suspect he's not as good as he appears. I see him doing well against hittable guys and struggling against evasive guys. Fury is a terrible match up for him. Usyk could be a problem. I could be wrong but I think we are gonna find his ceiling soon
Very much so But that doesn't change the fact number 1 and number 2 are British The horizontal HW myth is gone mate
Then he has lots of time left in his career ! In all seriousness, some above have compared him to Foreman or Louis. I can see some of that, to me he's closer to Foreman. Need to see him in there with someone besides DD to see where he's at. DD may have been a bit over-hyped or Joyce underrated.
No one here is old enough to remember Joe Louis, his last fight was 70 years ago! Louis had a completely different style, he had fast hands and lethal combinations. The only similarities are their come forward style.
Yeah, I can see a lot of old Lois fights on youtube and realize their styles are different. It's something more intangible to me. If Joyce was 5 years younger I'd have great expectations, but he's getting long in the tooth now and it appears he's already on the decline. Ever notice how some fighters get short circuited when they get punched? The stop what they're doing. Joyce seems to keep punching. I am blessed with keen boxing insight. For instance, I picked Joyce over Dubois based on trunk style and what rope each stepped over when entering the ring. I see things!
Well, British boxing does have not only Fury or A.J here. A lot of U.S boxing fans assumed that Gerald will beat Nigel Benn and Gerald had promised to kill him.
... what? You don't just have fury and AJ you have a middleweight from the 90s? Or was that just some sort of smack talk? I don't really root for fighters based on nationality (I'm a big Benn fan myself) but based on performances and personality but I suppose if I tried hard I could recall a few times an American fighter beat a British one...
