How Far Will David Haye Go In The Heavyweight Division?

Brutally KTFO when he fights someone in the top 20.

 

People say about David Hayes chin not being good enough,it might not,but Nigel Benns chin looked suspect against Doug Dewit when he went down from a little punch,but against Chris Eubank and especially Gerald McClellen it was like granite.I reckon Hayes punch resistance is qual to his punch power and speed.Time will tell.

 

I saw Hayes first fight and he had no defence at all. Things have changed but not sufficiently -he needs to learn to protect himself against the big boys.

 

He can`t make cruiserweight anymore,he had to severley sweat down to make the weight to fight Mormeck.

I wonder if his chin would be any better at heavyweight. Hay claims that his chin is made worse by making the cruiserweight limit. I think his chin may let him down at the top level but he does have power that can turn a fight. That being said I don't see him beating any of the current champions, particularly with a leaky defence.

 

Based on what David went through to keep under the cruiser limit, he shouldn't really have been able to compete with Mormeck.

 

i'm a haye fan and am under no illusions of his limits, i feel he can get a strap at HW but don't see him ruling the division and see him getting iced a few times.

wlad would mash him no doubt, but what would happen if haye landed flush on wlad's jaw? i'm intrigued to see how good haye's power will be at his natural weight and where it will rank amongst the current set of heavyweights.

 

I know David personally & it's 95% certain thathe won't even be trying to make 200lbs again because he won't be boxing there again. Haye has stated his intention to move up to HW, so I hope he sticks to his decision. I guess the only thing that could possibly make him think about another bout @ Cruiser is if a big, big financial offer was made to box Maccarinelli, but I cannot see that being the case.

Haye will be a better, stronger, sharper boxer @ HW. I think he can do well. Ok, I know he'll be boxing big guys who are very strong, but Haye's power will still be there up at heavy.

Put it this way, Haye will not avoid guys, he will make it known his wish to fight box the best. David's attidue is quite refreshing in a sport where fighters sometimes take the easy road to success.

It's a long way off, but can you imagine if Haye became HW champ? That would be an amazing achievement, even though the HW scene is very poor at the moment.

I for one hope David achieves all he can at HW.

Totally agree. Any heavyweight who holds his left hand up and has a good right hand has a big chance to beat Haye.

 

If his defence matched his offence, he could rule the division... unfortunately for him it doesn't and with the way he leaves his supect chin exposed, you can see a few KO losses down the road against the heavier hitters in the division. Still, if he chooses his battles wisely, I can see him picking up a strap or 2, I just don't like his chances against the Wlad's of this world.

He's a victim of circumstance. He's not big enough to compete with the top heavies and he says he can't go back down to cruiser.

Wanting to see a lighter guy move up and achieve heavyweight glory is all fine and good but can u honestly see Haye beating a guy like Wladimir Klitschko? I ask this question cuz Wladimir will be the man in the division for the next 4 or 5 years. All roads lead to him.

 

well seeing as, haye wont be drained... he'll be the undisputed fastest, and he'll be even stronger (and take in mind that he already has monster punching power)... with those three things in mind, the only conceivable opponent who would trouble him would be Wlad, or atleast the closest to troubling him... so at the verrrry least, he'll be a title holder. he's got a better chance then any other contender out there
