how good does erik morales's resume look after tonight?

It was a close fight but we cannot discount the cut (from a heatbutt) that closed Manny's eyes. Without the headbutt, results would have been different. I give Manny credit for putting up a fight despite fighting w/ one eye shut. The result was not decisive. That's why a rematch was called.

But anyway, it is now moot and academic because Pacquaio made him retire after two KOs.

 

Right after the fight, I posted my scorecards here with detailed account punch by punch and invited posters to discuss. I am the minority I agree but there were some who agreed with my scores, round by round.

Right after Pac-Morales 1, many of the posters here dismissed Pac as one dimensional and simply just said Morales is the better fighter than Pac. It comes as no surprise given the fickle mindedness of the posters here. Morales IMO was never the better fighter over Pac in any of their fights. He may have won the 1st fight, I have no problem with people scoring it for Morales. But to say he was the better fighter is nonsense. Pac was clearly at a disadvantage in that fight re gloves and cut - both are concrete valid excuse.

Legit win by Morales no question about that but the outcome would have been different given the gloves and the headbutt.

 

You don't think the fact that Morales lost 5 of his last 6 fights means Morales was already on his way out.

oh bull****! gloves and cut irregardless he won decisively. he could've worn whatever, but with no right hand he was'nt winning ****. cuts happen, thats the nature of the game, and pac could'nt fight through that. no excuses.

im a proud filipino, but i try to be objective.

no doubt pac beat the brakes off of him in the 2nd and 3rd fights. but you cant take away the first fight from the man.

atsch Morales only has lost to Barrera leading to the 1st Pac fight. And it was a damn close loss to Barrera that it could have been either way.

And of those last 6 fights, 3 were the wars against Pac which could have very well be the cause of Morales wearing down. The other 3 fights were against Barrera (damn close), Raheem (he was never hurt) and Diaz (whom many thought he beat).

Who is taking the win away from him? Nobody says Morales did not win legitimately.

But nobody should deny that without the cut and if Pac wore the gloves, the outcome could have been different. Pac said it, Roach said it. Hell even Morales himself wore the Reyes gloves in the 3rd fight. That does tell you that the type of gloves make a difference.

 

This is another way to look at it. The only victory out of Morales's last six fights, when he was clearly past his prime, was a convincing win over Pac.:good

you have to remember that pac didnt wear his REYES gloves. It was a big factor coz his punches were ineffective with that thick winning gloves.
