I dont see what this gif proves. Thats actually a bad position to be in against pacquiao. Plus the angles are all different with a southpaw. You dont wanna be standing still like that against Pac, you want to be moving your feet and keeping him off balance. Floyd is habituated to defending himself with his upper body rather then his feet, and that's not an advantage against pac.

Pac would be rolling combinations on him if he standing in front of him like that , especially on the body.

No, it wouldn't be a bad position. If emmanuel is being forced to attack that close, his southpaw angles aren't a factor.

I think Bruce lee would favor Mayweather's style more than pacquiao's.

Pac uses angles really well, one good reason that Chicken Void refuses to fight him for any amount of money................

Pacquiao is very good at using angles offensively, and Marquez is better at doing it going backwards and laterally, and so he takes that advantage away. Pacquiao is good at switching to an angle suddenly to walk a fighter into a shot or start an offensive from a less reachable position. He's quicker, but Marquez has the experience and the IQ to time them and be more efficient with his when using Manny's momentum against him.

    Exactly.

Well for one thing, Marquez neglected the body in those exchanges, and he's not half as good at using angles coming forward as he is taking them away going backwards. The orthodox combinations he was using in those instances weren't varied enough, and they're much different to what a southpaw would throw. Pac could have trouble getting around that shell, but he'll have to use feints and sudden turns more often if he wants to open things up for himself.

Also, Floyd fights very well in the clinch and against the ropes, but he does not force a clinch or smother opponents; when he walks them down, it's at range.

Juan tried to mix a hook to the body in that combo towards the end. Juan being a counter puncher himself understands that going for the body leaves you open for counters, especially if your opponent is an ATG one. emmanuel's southpaw angles won't help him so much if he's forced to throw that close like Juan is in the pic with the shoulders squared up.

Quite a few of Floyd's opponents weren't clinchers but ended up in clinches. Someone had to be starting the clinches in those fights. He was in Zab's AZZ up close where it didn't allow Zab to get shots off. I call that smothering.

That's a good point, being that close and that square didn't help either.

And I don't think he "smothered" Zab; in fact, Zab was falling in a lot, and Floyd would clinch, but he wouldn't forced his body onto Zab that way a traditional pressure fighter would. Cutting off the ring and pressuring? Yes. But smothering? Not the term I'd use.
