The world could use a good book on the Finnegan's!

There is a Chris Finnegan autobiography published back in 1976. Finnegan, Self Portrait of a Fighting Man.

Al, how are you doing ??
I read big brother, Chris's book back then, legends of the British ring, both of them, as was your dad.
Any chance of an Alan Rudkin bio any time soon ???

Yeah, I would like something covering post career as well. However, it may be a little dark.

Good analogy, though Bradley was better imo.

Minter was very good. He's one of the guys who'd been a contender in any era and a champ in some. A tad below maybe Valdes and Steele?

B minus level and Hagler stans will overrated the hell out of him because it's probably Hagler's 4th best win lol.

He was better than Eubank and Benn.

I'm pretty sure this is a troll but in case it isn't this post needs it's own thread and pinned to the top of the forum as the worst boxing opinion ever uttered in the history of boxing forums

Not as good as Giardello but certainly better than Pender.
Good boxer with a decent punch, and plenty of heart.

    Thanks.

Minter was better than Eubank and Benn though.
He stepped up and faced the best and won the world championship.
Eubank and Benn were just second-tier, they never faced the best.

I don't think he would do much against either of them.

I don't think it's an outrageous opinion to say Minter is better than Eubank and Been.
I probably agree with Mac I think both would beat him but they both would likely have a hard nights work against Minter, especially Eubank who could be out jabbed and out worked.
It's strange on here that Vito Antuofermo to me is overrated, yet Minter who busted him up big time in their second fight seems to be underrated.

Minter was great (not to be confused with ATG) in his day. Outside of cuts I believe he would be a threat in any MW era including today. I don't like the way it is said that Hagler destroyed him...the first 2 rounds were very close and competitive, but Minter was cut in the first. I do think Hagler would beat him anyway, but Minter would still have proven a worthy challenge for Marvin IMO.

I find him just a notch below the greats. Meaning he wouldn't rise to champ against Hagler, Hopkins Monzon types. But that he would compete and beat quite a few if that next level. Taking Recent MW's I think hex would lose to Hops and Winky Calzaghe RJJ Toney type fighters...be competitive with Trinidad Pavlik Taylor Jacobs type. If he were around today he would be top 4 along with Jacobs GGG Canelo with a fair to better than fair chance to beat any of them IMO

I suspect most people here with knowledge of boxing history would agree Minter ws better than Eubank and Benn.
    As a middleweight certainly.
Eubank and Benn were not top-tier middles and didn't fight the top tier middles, whereas Minter was for a time champion of the world.
