Wilfred fought his best I thought at 154. Got the experience and started to use it and he still has his speed. But at 160 it seemed he lost his confidence and the weight was just not his best. I do think that had he fought Hagler, Marvin would not have been able to stop him too easily. i think Marvin probably wins since this was not the best weight for Wilfred. I do think that if Wilfred could have fought at 155 or 156 and been as sharp as he was at 154 in 1982, he might have been able to beat Hagler. Just possible. Marvin's jab and southpaw stance would have been tough for Benitez that is for sure. Might have been similar to the Hearns fight where Benitez loses a decision.

Not the version of Hagler that defended the title up through about say Scypion. That guy was a combination punching machine and was as accurate as anyone in the sport. What he did not ever seem to do was hit air & even the missed punches caught a shoulder or forearm or something. Benetiz has nothing in his arsenal to back Marvin off him and all he can do is try to roll with punches in a corner or off the ropes. But he's constantly absorbing. Back then, that Hagler footwork was much better as well and he really did a fine job of cutting a ring down to about 10 feet on guys and they had to fight Marvin off.
