    he's no Wilfred Benitez or Floyd Mayweather when his back was against the rope but he did have some success fighting off the ropes

    Terrible way to fight.

    When his legs and reflexes had left him, he should of retired. He suffers with his kidneys, and we all know the shape his brain is in. Letting someone tire themselves out by hitting you is not advisable for your long term health.

    Can't understand why he did this so often later in his career. He destroyed Wepner for example once he got pissed and fought in the center of the ring.

    Those are the correct answers imo.
    It also had a lot to do with how easy the judges gave rounds to him. He didn't have to do a lot to "win" the round, wich made it a winning tactic for him.
