Diego Corrales was one of my favorite fighters, but he was heavily flawed.

One, he relied on his size to blast away fighters like Garcia and Manfredy (I became a huge fan during the Manfredy fight).

He did not use all his natural physical advantages very well, such as height and reach.

And his whiskers were not that of ATG status.

Chico was Floyd's best performance. He was electric that night.

And what are you on about being a better win than a shot Morales? Is a shot Morales some kind of benchmark now then? :nut:nut

Yeah, I totally agree. He had an uncanny ability to hurt fighters from short range, but he didn't know how to use his reach and he was awful at cutting the corner. He reminded me of Hamed. I really had no clue as to why anyone thought he would get to Floyd. I knew it would be an easy victory for Floyd and that Floyd would box his ears off. I didn't expect all the knock downs though.

^This fight told all. Corrales was great when making unnaturally low weights so he could fight guys smaller than him, but once he went up against someone basically his size he got his **** kicked in. Corrales wasn't that good.

Not the place to ask as a very slight majority of posters would have been of any relevant age that their opinion at the time matters. Hindsight is always 20/20. But there is a reason why Corrales was in everyones' top 5 P4P at the time. He was a force.

hamed was an elite athlete though , corrales looked to me as he relied on his size, youd have to have mayweather a favourite over hamed with the size advantage but hamed had the ability to nail him with something big, and off night or concentration lapse or giving in to his antics could allow him get that shot
