It would make more sense to try and go for Balzsay IF he beats Taylor.

It would me....after I got done being pissed at him.

IMO, esp. as Decebal put it, depending on the nature of the win, it would be HUGE for Froch to beat Taylor and guarantee some big time HBO $$$ fights in the future.

I already commend him for coming to the USA, and fighting Taylor for his first defense. That, gentleman, is an admireable display of BALLS.:yep

It would. If Froch beats Taylor, he beats Balzsay too, but as things stand, I'd take both of them over Froch, on the basis of what I've seen from them.

it would definately be his biggest win

but i predict that it will not be enough for Froch to be considered the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson by most boxing fans, and therefore the Brits will accuse everyone of being biased against their fighters an giving Froch zero credit.

Some british posters have seen it like that too. I can't. I think Froch knows exactly how good he is (B- to B) and that he has a small chance of beating Taylor. Furthermore, he knows that if he doesn't fight Taylor, he'd have to fight Dirrell and Ward (he has to fight two more mandatories before he's title is recongnised as a full title) and they're first in line after Taylor...AND...he knows these two have a good chance of beating him too...BUT...they're nobodies...so...the risk/reward in fighting Taylor is MUCH better than the risk/reward in fighting someone else...so...it's pure pragmatism, not balls...imo.

Kessler, Bute, Balzsay...everyone would have travelled to fight Taylor, if given the chance...but they weren't given the chance, because they're a worse risk/reward for Taylor than Froch is...apparently...:think

The WBC is just BEGGING Taylor to take this belt and make them some money. I think that is the gist of it.

Yap. They've even ranked three (!!!) Americans one after another after him so that if he wins the belt, he won't have to travel EVER to defend it, or argue with HBO/Showtime about "Euro-bum" type opponents being forced on him...:-:)lol:

I think he will get a lot of credit. Especially coming over here to the United States. If he can win here that does a lot for his career, and also then he will be mentioned to fight the great fighters or top guys like even Dawson, who is unproven but seems to be the lightweight king now. The experience would help him also.

Hey people, I can understand the British frenzy about Froch, I mean, It's a local thing when one of your own gets to compete in a big fight like this one. You guys know Carl way much more than us across the pound. One thing I know for shure is Jean Pascal gave trouble to Froch, and I saw everything Pascal showed so far, and I'm not that impressed, B- at best. So, if you think your guy deserves a strap, we will have a clear opinion on that matter very soon. Respect to Froch for taking the hard road to earn the cash and the recognition a true champion is worthy of.

That being said, I expect Taylor to be dominant enough to bring down the high expectations Froch is accounted for now. After all he has very large shoes to fill and I don't see him coming even half way the landmarks his predecessor acheived. Go on Carl, milk the cow before it tips over....

Carl Froch is far too much of an annoying ***** for me to be a fan of his. If you're going to be an ass do it with swagger and class - like an Ali, Toney or even someone like David Haye. Make it interesting.

Unlike others I don't find his particular style exciting unless he's paired with the right sort of opponent.

That being said, I think he has to be commended for taking the Taylor fight to the US. Even if what some of the other posters have mentioned is true - that is to say it represents a better risk/reward ratio than his dangerous mandatories - I feel it gives us an interesting fight.

Nor am I so dismissive of his chances either. Don't forget that he IS a natural SMW. That does come into play. Especially since he packs a decent (if not spectacular) wallop. Don't count him out just yet.

You have to applaud Froch, imo, for fighting Taylor, in the States, in his first ever title defence.

It's increasingly looking like it's on...

I'd say this would raise Froch into a slightly better stratosphere in the boxing world. Taylor is a good fighter as evidenced by his rise to the top, and he has a decent track record. Most people don't like Taylor because of how he stagnated himself in his role as middleweight champ. The absence of Joe Calzaghe will allow Froch to SOMEWHAT step in as the white poster boy of his division. This can only happen if Froch looks good in his win. Also, he's British. That's a built in core audience right there.

I hope this happens. Boxing seems to be shaping up a little bit, and certain fighters appear to be taking on a little more of a challenge. If this fight happens, I would be happy for either fighter to win. I would like to see Taylor because everybody loves a great comeback story, but it would also be good for Froch because it would be an awesome start to his title defenses.

All I have to say is; if Froch wins, he better take on everybody else. It would be great to see a champ show what it's like to be a real champ. I just don't want to see the Joe Calzaghe route taken.
