    He had a chin...

Now the haters 'Khan' say what the want but he does possess insanely fast hands, half decent footspeed and a very good variation of punches. He also has decent to average power, good reach and decent stamina.

In every fight he has lost EVERY SINGLE one its been cos he couldnt take the power of the fighter he was up against.

My question is how highly would he be rated if he had froch's chin, how highly would be remembered in terms of our greatest fighters thro the years....

Do not make this a Khan v Brook thread lets keep it on topic

    discuss guys

he would be rated very highly, id rate Khan a lot higher than I do even with the chin he has if he wasn't so openly ducking power punchers, its that that irks me the most about him, but yes if he had a froch like chin his fights would be even more entertaining than they USED to be

I don't believe he would be anything like the same fighter if he had a better chin, but to be honest I don't think that his chin is his biggest disadvantage it's his ring IQ when he gets hit on the chin.If you watch him when he has been tagged he either engages or he starts moving around the ring with his hands held high but he doesn't have the smarts to either hold on and smother or use lateral movement to keep out of the way and like his chin he just can't seem to improve this.

in fairness I think some of his reactions when hes been tagged is simply down to the fact he doesn't know what day of the week it is, against Garcia he managed to get to the end of round 3 and when he came out for round 4 he was still in another world, you don't often see that

na dont totaly agree here it has to be his chin look at the breidis prescott fight in the first 5 secs Prescott hits him with a jab and you see his legs stiffen and travel right thro his body. I remember watchin it and instantly goin "oooopssy" in my head and knew what was coming. That showed how poor it is a jab rocked him badly. I actually think its his concentration levels that are poorer than his IQ. Quite often you would see Khan come out and not get touched for the first 3/4 rounds once the fatigue affects his concentration his chin gets exposed i feel.

yeah i agree with this as during most fights he has no problem tighing people up or fighting a little dirty .. its seems to be once the fight has settled a bit or as you said he gets caught

What a pointless thread. It's a "If..." question.

Same as saying, "imagine IF delboy made a decent post".

    Neither will happen.

Ok look at Wladimir Klitschko, his chin is every bit as bad as Amir Khans but he has developed a style that has kept him on top for the last decade. He has done this by doing what he does best and making sure that no one hits his chin. This includes smothering other fighters like he did with Povetkin or he stays negative and uses his boxing skills to dismantle them at range like he did with Pulev.

You could also be right about the concentration side but if you think about fighters over the years with bad chins they can still compete at the top and face bangers if they have the right ring smarts.

Dunno there arent many that get to the top level havin a china chin... Im only saying this as i kinda feel sympathy for these guys. No matter how hard they train, how skillfull they are how fast or smart they are some people are physically made up that when you hit that chin all other attributes just dissapear. I personaly think if he could hold a good punch we would consider Khan one the the very best we have ever had......

Is an IF tho and at the end of the day he doesnt posses one .

he still looks vulnerable on the inside to me, the Pederson fight (though I thought he won) would have been the same regardless of his chin, and I think he may lose against a high volume Porter type opponent. His chin isn't that bad but he leaves himself open to big punches where even lower level weaker guys like gomez. limond diaz etc were able to land clean on him. Though he survived against maidana he still left himself there to be hit.

The algeiri fight suggests he may struggle against a slightly taller / longer reach opponent too, most WW's are the short stocky type so don't think he'll face anyone taller than algeiri.

His main problem is him / his management making shyte career choices and ducking big fights to keep him safe for a fight that's not happening.

It's a myth that Khan's "only" weakness is a chin.

Yes, he has a weak chin, but that's only one. He also has no inside game, is predictable, has poor defense, lunges, and leaves himself open after throwing a combination.

A chin is important, but even more important is good ring IQ, which Khan lacks.
