How Impressive Was Calzhage's Win over Prime Kessler ?

I disagree. A guy doesn't suddenly go from peak to decisively past-prime after 1 single defeat. Ward-Kessler was 2 years after Calzaghe-Kessler, meaning MK was only 29 or 30 when he went in with Ward. Also, Kessler achieved his greatest win after even the Ward fight. It's too convenient to just decide that Kessler was miraculously a lesser fighter after he fought Joe C.

The fight was that one-sided Ward could've won with one hand.

Very impressive.Kessler was a very good fighter and JC's performance was excellent as he clearly beat Mikkel.

The win - on paper - was very impressive.

The fight itself didn't live up the hype and was a boring 12 round slapfest. Throughout his career Calzaghe was a stinker and I barely recall a single exciting fight he was in.

Great point, Kesslers biggest win clearly came after his lost to Ward. Truth is Ward is likely a better fighter then Calzaghe and would have beatten him also.

Man I tell Calzaghe keeps getting better and better with time. :-(

Personally, I thought Kessler was going to win it.

I was impressed that Joe pulled it off.

The best win on his resume and it was clearly a victory for JC, unlike Hopkins.

Edit: It was impressive; I picked Kessler mainly because of the badass viking tat.

    Very good win.
Kessler was a young undefeated unified WBA/WBC champ.
Calzaghe was an old past his best champ who just knew a bit too much.

I became a bigger fan of Kessler after this fight and Kessler has gone on to once again win the WBC & WBA SMW titles

After such a great win, Calzaghe produced another by beating Hopkins

Froch showed vs. Kessler that you can create a great, exciting fight with the Danish fighter. Calzaghe produced a terrible snooze-fest instead. That's his legacy.

I thought the fight was very good, but I guess we all see different things.
Many of the best often make for boring fights because they are so good ie L Lewis, W Klitschko, B Hopkins, F Mayweather, Im sure you get the picture

It was a very good win, solid.

Put it this way, if Kessler had beat Joe, Ward would be proclaimed an ATG at this moment in time by tossers like MW.

Oh and Joe beat a better version of Kessler.

I wasn't aware that wasn't Calzaghe's hometown when he fought Kessler. My mistake...............

I was also not aware that Andre Ward was throwing elbows in the fight. Very interesting point of view.

    Kessler is/was an average fighter.
Joe's win over Kessler was an average event by two average fighters.

Where does that leave Mr. Carlos Froch who lost to an older half blind Kessler years after ?

That was a great night in my home city. Great win for Joe and iv been a Kessler fan ever since. Shame he has virtually retired. Glad he beat that slimey big nosed snake Carl Froch first though
