Dont want to go all the way to the USA? You mean like the great Latino fighters have been doing for the last 100 years? All the way to the USA, the mecca of boxing, the cradle of boxing civilization, where careers are made, where big time pay days are earned, yeah, they are just *****.

I have no problem with the eastern european former Soviet sphere fighters. They atleast know where the money and fame is, they atleast will challenge anybody, not like most western europpean fighters who sit in bunk divisions fighting eachother for table scraps.

Well after Hatton and Calzaghe who do the brits got? Sorry, we have alot more then Lacy to hang our hats on. A fighter is alot easier to drop when you have more to choose from.

Yep, I still have the copy of Ring Magazine from just before that fight with an article about "BOXING'S NEXT BIG THINGS!"

The cover featured "THE FUTURE OF THE SPORT" ....... Michal Grant and David Reid!

So you are just saying that Americans are just prejudiced against good fighters from around the world.

Then why were so many latinos so successful? Boxing has just taken off in the last 15 years in eastern europe, they've done the same in basketball. They were getting their asses tapped in that too and now they are good at basketball just like they are "good" in boxing.

All intelligent British boxing fans knew before this fight that Hatton was just an overrated B level fighter.

Yeah they are good at one division. Your point? Am I supposed to do somersaults every time a European wins something?

Watching him get utterly destroyed by Lennox Lewis will always remain one of my favourite sporting memories.
Whenever his name gets mentioned on here people quickly claim that they predicted what was going to happen, and how they never fell for all the hype.
Truth is, the whole of the USA were convinced that he was going to beat Lewis and go on to reign for years to come. When he got swiftly brushed aside he was dismissed as just another hype job.
    Jeff Lacy was no different.

WTF are you talking about????? Lewis always got a GREAT reception in England!

Not only that, but thousands of Brits always made the journey over to your sewer of a country to watch him fight over there.

I really doubt it. From the eastern european boxers we've seen so far none really has stood out with all time great material. I would wager the top 10 heavyweights of the 70's would eat these current heavyweights alive (and not just those from eastern europe decent).

The WBC is based out of Mexico by the way.
