How long would it take (to train at boxing) and be able to defend yourself?

Seriously dude, you talk about IQ and call everyone else a moron, yet you're willing to get into a fight with a redneck (who probably fights a lot), while your chic friends are sitting there behind you, and you KNOW that you have no clue how to fight. And all this over a slice of pizza?? Pizza dude... pizza... It's not even like they threw beer on you or kicked off your car mirror, it's a ****ing slice of pizza. You have no concept of analyzing risk and reward do you? And we're the dumb ones?

Also, a lot of people gave you advice to avoid fights, that doesn't necessarily mean they said carry a gun or act super straight. You're making generalizations to build up your strawman.

And, since you brought it up, I'd love to hear your views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. If I'm such a putz, I'd love it if you'd enlighten me.

Dude face it, you came here expecting everyone to be like "YEAH! LEARN TO BOX!, then you can totally ****ing own everyone who gives you a dirty look!"

When 95% of the people here said dude, take self-defence, or try to avoid fights, you got your panties in a bunch. Take it easy killer.

Just wondering, shouldn't this thread be torn apart in the general forum seeing as it has absolutely **** all to do with training?

Possibly, but it's also super entertaining.

True. But it's also getting kind of repetitive. You can only tell somebody so many times how much of a moron they are before it gets boring.

Still, carry on taking the **** out of this guy, I find your posts entertaining.

It just amazes me that we're actually trying to help this guy with the advice we're giving, yet he's throwing it back in our faces because it's not the violent solution. Unbelievable.

Certainly one of the more entertaining threads I've run across on ESB in quite some time. Took me two days to get caught up.

The most amusing part of the pizza story is that the OP is still convinced that after his pizza was thrown on the floor, he was left no other choice but to throw his drink in the aggressor's face. Sadly, his **** poor attitude is gonna wind up getting him seriously hurt or worse. Growing up would offer much more practical benefits than years of boxing training.

You know what we need to do to keep this party going? We need to see the stories about the other 3 fights.

I can only imagine how awesome they'll be based on the epic pizza story.

Boxing is a lot of work though. It would be easier to learn to defend oneself by taking self defense classes as shown here:

    It even works against boxing!:

Obviously you're not a real fighter, but a keyboard warrior. A real fighter would mercilessly beat down anyone who bumps into them in the street, or looks at them funny. And if anyone ever throws down a real fighter's slice of pizza on the ground... man... they'd better hope they can run fast...

Got to agree with you man, I absolutely hate pointless violence and hate people who go out of their way to get into fights, but if some guy started harrassing me for no reason in a pizza place I couldnt let myself just sit there and take it.

I haven't read all 300 or so replies to the original OP, but ... surely the best thing to do is avoid a street fight at all costs, no matter what the provocation? Street fights are nothing to with boxing or self defence - they're brutal and dangerous. You could end up in hospital or the morgue. Sometimes, OP, it takes more courage to walk away than to feel you have to prove your 'manhood' (no matter what your sexuality) or maintain your dignity.
