This. The only real possibility is if Ward moves up to 175 and Froch beats Kessler.

    Froch - IBF
    Groves - WBO
    Cleverly - WBO
    Burns - WBO

    Brook - IBF?
    Frampton - IBF?
    Haye - WBC?
    Khan - Vacant WBO?

    Around 4 for me.

When we say "World Champions" I presume we mean fighters who picked up one of the many titles available from the various governing bodies?

If we use the proper meaning of the word "Champion", ie: "a person who has surpassed all rivals in a sporting contest or other competition", then clearly we have none.

The best chance we have this year is if David Haye got off his arse and beat both Vitali and Wlad. So, basically we'll still have nobody...
Call me old fashioned if you will, but to be considered a true world champion I would say you have to beat the main man in the division. Froch is the best we have, but as good as he is he's not the main man. He might even be 2nd fiddle to Kessler, let alone Ward.

As for Ricky Burns, as long as he's ducking Broner he's just a trinket holder.
Cleverly is also a very long way off before he can call himself a true "World Champ".

I don't think that's old fashioned, its more a case of normal sanity.

    4.

Add Brook to the mix. No reason why Khan can't though.

Then we could be talking tens more then, and why is not Bellow, Afolabi, Murray, DeGale and Quigg included on the opening post? And I have only touched on four alphabet organizations, and even then not included versions of their titles...

The opening post is asking for opinion.

Vote 9+ if that's your opinion...

But to offer an opinion that could add something to the thread, surely they need to define; why them three? As the term 'world champion' in boxing can and does have so many different meanings...

Considering we're supposed to be boxing fans, it's a bit disappointing that some consider people like Cleverly a World Champion. The WBO title is just a way of showing you're a step closer to being the main man.

Also, let's not forget Clev never even won the title in the first place. It was given to him without him lifting a finger. I actually like the guy and hope he goes on to do well, but at the moment he's just a decent up and coming fighter.

World Champions as in WBA/WBC/IBF/WBO - Super or Regular, not interim, silver, international or intercontinental.

I thought that was clear when I mentioned those three, perhaps you're being pedantic

The thread title should be ''How Many Alphabet Happy Belt Holders Will There Be AT End Of 2013'' I point blank refuse to class any of them belts or the holders as ''World Champions''.

(And yes I am being pedantic).
