it depends, Mayweather recently has adopted a more aggressive style which is a sign his reflexes are slowing down because hes trying to compensate by attacking more the difference between Mayweather and Hopkins styles are that Mayweather will block, slip, duck, dodge and counter the punches, something that relies heavily on defense and relfexes whilst Bernard Hopkins will hold, headbutt, feign injury to get a breather . . . Mayweather is a tactician and a class act but father time catches up with everyone sooner or later. Ill give him 5 more years based on his usual activity til he hangs up the gloves
Depending on alot of factors like lawsuits/IRS etc etc But if we put those factors aside I think 3 maybe 4 fights tops. He is quite old and I'm not sure he has the same drive as say a Hopkins. As he gets older the chances of him beating the young guns becomes less and less even with all the skill he has. I'm sure he knows this.....
This I agree I think he is preparing for a Martinez fight, if Martinez looks dominating against Macklin. Final fights: Cotto, Martnez, Canelo, Khan, Berto?, Pacquiao
Floyd has never been hit much and he's had long periods of rest form boxing, so he's a young, fresh 35.
I dont think he wants to break in any more youngsters. I think maybe Cotto and Pac are the last two in his era. He might be looking at Sergio or P Willie also. Just my guess. Actually I think he just wanted to knock Pac off and retire but when that didnt happen, Cotto was the next best thing. I Pac dont show up after the Cotto fight , then he just might pack it in. After all , he's got somebody to carry the torch. Broner!:bbb
He's 35 & still looks like he's never been punched in his life :yep Floyd has got dodgy hands & his legs arent as good as they were. Fighting once a year he could go for 3 or 4 more years at the very top level.
His reflexes are still very good, but he obviously had something to prove against bigger guys in Mosley and Ortiz. He literally has nothing to prove outside of a Pac fight or getting a 6th division title.
Floyd was 16 when he won the National Golden Gloves so many years in the sport but in order to support his life style and fighting once a year I would say until 40.
Not fighting Pacquiao would be a huge dent to his reputation and itll not be easliy forgotton. He needs to tick that box before even thinking about retiring permenately.
Floyd can fight until 2020... he'll just retire every couple of years to "preserve the mind and body". **** Floyd.
