How many lightweights would you favour to beat prime Arguello?

Liking Arguello against Pacquiao is understandable, but why specifically in Manny's most natural weight divisions?

 

Because Arguello was a better fighter and Marquez showed how vulnerable Pac would be to counter rights -- consistently throughout their series.

 

I think Arguello, even a slightly diminished version, is a tough stylistic match up for Pac. Pac needs to be aggressive to win and moving forward towards the 5'11 Arguello and getting caught with big right hands spells disaster.

Not very many considering he could take your head off with one shot and was an extremely efficient body puncher.

 

Not many, personally my 1st criteria would be fighters that were defensively special, with great head and foot speed.
That's B.Leonard, F.Welsh , C. Ortiz, K. Buchanan , F. Mayweather, and yes Duran fits that criteria.
But of that group, only one had the fire power to truly hurt Arguello, that was Duràn.
So Duràn, in my opinion would be the only favorite of the group the rest maybe 50-50 maybe 60-40 because of Arguello's physical advantages of height and reach .
Hank Armstrong , Gans, I .Williams , Chavez Sr would be tough for Arguello, but I believe he beats them.
