Tua has been below 240 his last three fights, and came into camp last week in shape with 8 weeks to go. Personally, 230 would be a great shape for him now. He's about 5 pounds off that in his previous three fights.
Ugh no to a Super heavyweight division. The last thing we need is more weight classes to muddy up the boxing scene. Just put a cap on the HW weight limit at say...265. Anybody weighing above that isn't important.
A boxer doesn't necessarily have to look like a bodybuilder or a fitness model to be in shape. Sometimes looks can be deceiving. Gil Clancy once commented that old time trainers didn't particularly like for their fighters to have sixpack abs, they thought a boxer who was too lean couldn't take a hard shot to the body, which actually makes sense because water weight dissipates force whereas lean muscle conducts force. In MMA Fedor may look like **** in a bodybuilding contest but a bodybuilding contest is the only way Andre Arlovski could beat Fedor.
Nobody is arguing that you need to be in "bodybuilding" shape in order to be a competitive heavyweight. However, the division is filled with assholes like Chris Arreola that are not in shape due to a lack of discipline. :deal
The majority of the Heavyweights who are near the top of the rankings seem to take care of there body, Klitschko's, Haye, etc. It's the Heavy's who turn professional and believe, the heavier they are, the more power they carry, that annoy me the most.
