It mystifies me that Pacquiao has been boxing for 16 years and works with the "alleged" best trainer in the sport, but still has absolutely no ability to cut the ring off. Against a master like Mayweather, that will ulitmately be his undoing. To answer the question, I predict that Manny will land about 10-12 power punches a round. i expect Mayweather to slow the pace and make Manny fight his fight like FMJ has always done.

Let's say that he average 35 punches power punches per round, would it be possible that he land more than 30% of them?

Simply Put hell no he can't land more than 117 power punches and surely can't beat him. Floyd rare gets his and Marquez boxed him so easily. PAC does have a chance of victory if he can last 12 rounds and it not becaue he's a great fighter.

I think he would probably land 10-12 per round "statistically". But in terms of real power punches that genuinely cause damage, maybe 20-30 for the fight. He can, and in my opinion, will come close to doing so, win a decision, simply because he will be far more active than Floyd, and has the handspeed to land more than any other Floyd opponent.

To make it easier, lets say that he'll average 36 power punches per round, which is equivalent to 12 punches per minute at the rate of:

    1- 30% = 3.6 punches connected per minute
    2- 35% = 4.2 punches connected per minute
    3- 40% = 4.8 punches connected per minute
    4- 50% = 6.0 punches connected per minute

I would say that if he connects in every round 4 power punches + other punches, he might steal rounds, especially if he connects his power punches after the first minute and a half of each round. Actually 4 power punches per round isn't bad especially if the other boxer isn't really agressive... and 4 power punches are enough to win a round especially in the beginning of the fight... lets say the first 2 or 3 rounds. I have seen many boxers winning a round with just a couple of power punches.

Manny will be giving credit for about 69 to 70 power punches. Manny's big problem is he will not be willing to take the risk of going to the body bc he will be to worried about getting countered just like he was in the Marquez fight.

I keep telling people that range is going to be a big problem in this fight for Manny. Floyd can control him at long range bc Floyd will be using a quick sharp jab. Manny will have to lung in to counter Floyd's jab bc it will be faster than any jab Manny has ever seen and Floyd will time him with it. By the 5th round we will start hearing Steward say "this fight is turning out just like I thought it would."

Since post retirement floyd has been hit cleanly by power shots. Jmm round 2 hit floyd flush on the face, except jmm punches never hurt floyd even they were flush and clean. Shane hit floyd cleanly and hurt him the worst we ever seen floyd hurt. Ortiz landed cleanly some great shots on round 2 and on round 4 floyd got hurt twice. So I can definitly see pac landing some good power shots on floyd. Another thing is when floyd gets hurt he will drop back on the ropes and stay defensive, this will add in power shots. He's also more a aggresive fighter when he fightts southpaw and is less on shell. So this will also help in getting more shots in for pac. Lastly, we also see that when his opponents throw combination shots he has the tendency to shell up instead of countering. Floyd best countering comes from the outside and inside fighting. Pac likes to fight on mid distance.
I can see this fight like a duran v SRL who ever comes with the best gameplan wins, with floyd having all the size and technical advantages. Amazing how floyd has such a biig advantage yet he won't fight him without stipulations.

Just 1......and that's all it takes . 1 power punch would turn Floyd into smash Potato and gravy next to his special two pieces combo.
