Maybe the same? A million is a lot despite the weird expectations on here. Anyone predicting 3 million or showing disappointment at the actual number is out of their mind. Even Oscar didn't routinely go over a million buys.
You know i won $600 in that fight lol... i was smart enough to bet against these idiots who thought hoya was gonna win..however even I didnt think hoya would lose by THAT much..
Can people stop talking like that proves how much Manny could draw today. Manny became a star after DLH and a superstar after the Ricky fight. Popularity isn't static. Things have changed, Manny is easily just as much of a draw as Floyd.
The US had also just been hit the biggest recession since the big one. Funny how people choose to forget that.
Maybe Pac should have talked some $hit and given Oscar's wife the bird.....they might have done 2mil. Still, I'm pretty sure the odds weren't 4-1 in DLH favor.
Not sure what the line started at, but, at the time of the fight, DLH was a a little better than a 2-1 favorite. Which was still pretty large considering all the Filipino money on Pac.
What, that Floyd's popularity has grown? I'd say that's true. But people are comparing the Ricky/Marquez/DLH numbers when Pac wasn't a star yet. I'm not arguing that Manny's been a draw as long as Floyd, because it's not true. I'm saying right now Pac could do numbers that are basically the same as Floyd. Just my opinion.
I can understand your argument for Marquez, but how can you argue a common opponent, especially when they are fought in the exact same order?
I'd say 1.5 to 2M, or close to what Floyd did against Shane. The fight sure would have been a war. Nobody can prove me wrong (or right) as it ain't happened).
I'm not arguing the opponent made the difference, I'm arguing Manny's popularity grew after the DLH fight. And went even higher after the Ricky fight. I'm saying Floyd was already established as a star and then that fight took him to the next level. My point is, that Manny only has 2 fights as a legit superstar, Cotto and Clottey. What he did before he became a superstar doesn't predict what he can do now. When Floyd fought Ricky, he was already a superstar that Manny couldn't compare to. Therefore I'd expect Manny not to do Floyd numbers with Ricky.
