Lewis-Wlad is now among the most fascinating HW showdown I think. What happened between Wlad and Pulev was fascinating, and if you overlay Lewis and Vitali you've got a fight that might be controlled by absolutely nobody. Wlad's more organised footwork might be a real difference-maker here, but I tend to look at the punches Lewis took off Vitali and extend the benefit of the doubt to Lennox, which basically means running to the Wlad chin again.

This isn't satisfying. The difference between their power punches, if their is one, and in their jabs, if their is one, would likely be moot though. And there's likely just no controlling this fight. Nobody could control the fight in a meaningful way. Probably all that matters is who lands first and who can stand what. Which you don't know until you know.

    Wlad-Lewis is pretty clearly 50-50.

Sure people have landed powerful punches since then. Brewster dropped him a couple times and stopped him. Peter dropped him two or three times (I can't recall) in their first fight.

His chin didn't get "better" since then. But he did learn to protect it. And he does "freak" when a head shot lands and abandons whatever he's doing.

You can go back in heavyweight history and see all the top heavyweights standing toe to toe with a guy and trading shots back and forth. Holmes-Norton round 15. Ali-Spinks 1 Round 15. Any round from Lewis-Mercer. On and on. You can find footage. They all did it. The great ones and the not-so-great ones. At some point, they'd stand toe-to-toe and just slug it out with another top heavy from their day just because they were fighters.

Wlad doesn't do that. I've followed his whole career. He'd sooner grab a guy, d**** himself on someone's back, and tumble around on the floor while the crowd booed their heads off than ever stand toe-to-toe and slug it out for even 10 seconds. Even if the guy he's fighting can't punch a lick.

Wlad Klitschko is "afraid" of head shots. He just is. There's a difference between a guy avoiding head shots, slipping head shots, protecting his head because it's the smart thing for all fighters to do ... and a guy who is "afraid" of getting hit in the head.

Wlad reacts like a "civilian" who never fights would if someone threw a punch at their head.

He rarely gets hit in the head, so it's not noticeable. But it's really bizarre when he's hit a guy a 100 times in the face and head, and the guy keeps coming. And then an opponent hits Wlad in the head once, and Wlad freaks out and starts grabbing and pushing and just abandoning whatever he's doing.

It's one of the most peculiar things I've ever seen from a fighter who might be one of the best ever at his weight.

Man, he must be delighted that Richard 'no holding, no holding! Punch and get out!' Steele is not still refereeing.

Wlad has the skill, size, & discipline to beat every champion who ever lived. He won't get caught up in the moment & try to do something spectacular. He would stick to what works. It might not be exciting but he might beat everyone. Im not a fan at all but I know he'd be difficult for anyone.

wlads weak h2h because of his weak chin that gets destroyed by journeymen and retirees, there are few past champs he can beat.

the weakest ones would be his best bet, and where he has huge physical advantages to compensate for lack of breadth of skills. tommy burns.

Despite the oft-cited concerns regarding Wlad's chin, I think the structure is probably sounder than many believe. Same goes for Lennox.

    And I rank Wlad's as ever-so-slightly better.

Rahman scored a clean clear KO over Lennox. Down for 10.

Wlad's losses to Brewster and Purity had more to do with fatigue or stamina issues than chin. Iron-chinned Big George's whiskers let him down in Zaire, but mainly on account of exhaustion. It can happen to the best.

That leaves Sanders, who caught Wlad with a very powerful punch which, combined with several subsequent powerful shots, caused the fight to be stopped, and rightly so.

But Wlad still up and awake.

That said, I believe that Lennox has an overall edge in ability and I would expect him to eek out a points victory if the best versions of the two men met.

    If it's a KO, then I expect it's Lennox who's horizontal.

My odds: 55-45 in Lewis' favour.

Wlad - Lewis is a clear 20-80 type fight in favour of Lewis and i'll try and explain why.

You brought the Pulev and Vitali fights up as and an example and claimed Wlads footwork was more organized? Over who Lewis or Vitali?

Wlad doesn't have better footwork than Vitali and the opponents they shared in the ring prove it.
Vitali made Lewis walk through punches because he boxed him off the back foot and kept a distance between them.
Wlad is incapable of such boxing and has never shown it.
Lewis wouldn't have to walk thru Wlads punches , he's only have to walk thru Wlads clinch on the inside , where he was at his most devastating best.

Wlad never took backward movement against Pulev , the fight in which you believe he proved he could compete with Lewis. He bounced up and down on the same spot trying to find one shot to bomb out Pulev and when he didn't think he had him lined up , he reached in for the clinch with his arms dangled out in the air. He did that more times than he used footwork and positioning.

Pulev was also planted into the canvas like a statue , wit his arms flailing and his chin an open target. Beating a useless guy like that says nothing about how somebody would handle Lewis.

Furthermore, Wlad was staggered off a girly Pulev jab, ,while Vitali bucked off a Lewis jab. A Lewis right hand or uppercut would do Wlad serious mental and physical harm.

There no fight on film that should favor Wlad -Lennox fight as a clear 50/50.
He fights in the worst HW era known to man yet has to excessively foul the potato peeler's put in front of him and he looked utterly terrible in all his biggest fights.
True champions and greats shine against the best guys they face. Wlad has looked garbage , each and every time.

    You're very right here.

Wlad desperately wanted to employ his cheat tactics on Brewster, but the ref kept saying - don't lean on him , stop leaning on him. He said it over and over - stop leaning down on him.

When he was pushed back and forced to box , he was gone in the next few rounds. You could tell he was lost and didn't know what to do.
