Williams was not marginally taller. Watch their bout. It's as clear as day Williams towers over Liston. Williams was much taller than 6'2" as seen in his bouts against the 6'6" Terrell who has an inch or two on Williams at the most.
Didn't you once use the commentator noting Williams' reach advantage to question Liston's true reach in a Marciano thread? I guess it only counts when it suits your agenda.

Yes, Williams was outweighed by 2 pounds, but he was significantly taller than Liston as film shows and noticeably more muscled.

That's my point you ****ing moron. Williams was a rated contender and not only matched Liston's physical advantages but surpassed it as well despite Lance's claim that he only faced one.

This is another one of those inane comments SolomonDeedes was referring to. You're a ****ing idiot if you think someone is physically inferior to his opponent just because he lost. Were Ali and Young stronger than Foreman? Was Bruno stronger than Cummings?

The list goes on and on.

I noticed you avoided the overall point of my post which was that Bah Lance's statement "Liston was on the receiving end of one against the only contender he faced that could match his physical advantage" was indisputably and irrefutably a lie, and you know it.

once again attacking peoples mental health.

I’m offended. In this day and age!

it’s the same difference between Ali and Sonny. Or Coetzee and Weaver.

hmm. and more muscles. Key point I am sure.

not that I would recal, but you do have rather an obsession over trying to read the wrong thing into anything I say…

it’s about the same difference as Ali being taller than Sonny. Did anyone use the expression “towers over Liston” to describe their fights?

Did they, though? Liston fought him twice, knocking him out of the top-10. By the time Williams had established himself as a top-10 fighter, Liston was champ. Was he going to fight Williams a third time?

At that time champs were fighting once, maybe twice a year if we were lucky. Williams came along at the wrong time. By the time Ali became a more active champion in 1966, Williams was recovering from his shooting and got his shot.

If Patterson, Liston, and Ali (in 1964) would've been more active between 1961 and late 1964, Williams may have gotten his shot sooner. His situation kind of makes a case for multiple champs and sanctioning bodies. When the title was split in 1964, Williams was right in the 4-man tournament to find a WBA champ. Then he got shot and his career was on hold for a couple of years. Unlucky guy.
