Five. Had he won the last round, it would've been bye-bye Biggest Fight of All-Time. But no the boxing gods won't have none of that, and would destroy any obstacle to that boxing coming-out party that is Pac-May. Hence those ridiculous lopsided scoring by the judges.
I'm surprised the numbers are turning out this low. I didn't score it upon watching it at first but I was trying to keep my bias as a fan in check and watch for actually landed punches, and thought Cotto won somewhere around 5. A lot of those rounds were just hard to pick a winner/loser in.
This is why I opted to drive to my mothers to watch the fight, just me, fiancee and my mother. Despite it being my birthday, I'd go stir crazy having people tell me Cotto won. Which is reportedly what happened with where my friend was at where he watched the fight. I even yelled at my fiancee during the fight. Lol. Fight time and me are special. So anyone saying Cotto won, would either be **** on verbally by me, or I would have punched a wall. That's why I refuse to watch any fight I care about at a bar. You know when people say they want Pac or Floyd to fight Hopkins or something ******ed. Yea I hate that ****. And look, this was a good fight. Some close rounds but I thought two were debatable and two were clear for Cotto. Judges were spot on.
indeed, Mayweather chose to trade/brawl with Cotto to give the audience a good action fight and thats why Cotto won maybe 4 rounds but if May would've chosen to outbox Cotto 12 rounds then Cotto would not have won a round .......
