SLAAKA, pl ease don't waste your energy, on people who have eyes but don't see...You just can't win. When you cite a fact that several hundred of the very TOP sports writers in 1950, who many, went back to Jeffries,
polled Jack Dempsey as the greatest fighter from 1900 on, by a decisive majority, they then say "what do they know ?', but conversely pick Ali as
the greatest heavyweight, even though these very same naysayers,
were in a crib when Ali was fighting,or still in school...Hypocrisy, I say.
What Ray Arcel, Lou Stillman ,Whitey Bimstein, and other tough S.O.Bs
forgot about the sweet science, these characters will NEVER know.
There should be differences of opinions discussing the merits of great fighters, but to blindly dissent, and dismiss what experts have seen
and wrote about, shows me these people have disdain for history.
According to their way of thinking, Joe Louis ,can't be that great because
after all, I, and others who rave about him , "were young at the time ",
and our opinions are not to be trusted... b.b. :good:good:good

If Ray Arcel says it, then it must be so. :bbb

Of course, Arcel also picked Patterson to beat Liston :patsch

Really because boxing is about as integrated now as its ever been and the black man isnt even close to dominating the sport.

Strange comment on a thread regarding a fighter who was willing and did face the toughest black fighters of his era and at least held his own if not better.
