A tall order 10-15 years ago. Jones' footspeed has diminished though, so it's not unreasonable to expect Calzaghe to be able to land punches, and alot of them. Still, Jones' is an effective counter-puncher with great handspeed. Joe will be prepared for this, and his superior footwork will make the difference.

Just Kessler...I re-adjusted the post for Hopkins...but yes in my book, Calzaghe outboxed Kessler 8 rounds to 4, therefore he schooled him !

    But...

It took Calzaghe almost his entire career to show us what he's really capable of....

As long as Roy's legs hold up, Joe IS NOT schooling him. Joe cannot outbox Roy, I find it funny that you think he can  He has to beat him like he beat Hopkins, by outworking him. Hopkins showed early in that fight that as far as boxing skills are concerned, Joe doesn't measure up. :deal

im gonna go with 4-5, roy i think will win the earlier rounds mainly because he won't have to worry about Joe's punching power but i think Joe will win the rest because Roy's legs are just about shot and he won't be able to keep up

Jones has a Glass Jaw and is scared to get hit. Calzaghe will be throwing a lot of punches and Jones ever since his two brutal KO losses goes into a shell when fighters punch back because he is afraid of getting KOed again. Jones is done and has been for a while. This fight is a complete joke.

If Jones keeps it in the middle of the ring early, he can pick Calzaghe apart and counter him. Thats early. I feel it can potentially go real bad for Jones late though. :deal

If anything Jones is much more intelligent now than he was then(if thats even possible) The only thing I see him lacking in is his stamina, slightly in other areas. But he's still a master of timing and distance. He's still extremely fast as well...

Good post ! Calzaghe is like a hyperactive and awkward man to fight, with very good athletic ability but his overall boxing skills are not in the same class as Hopkins or Jones.

I disagree. Joe got into a groove in the middle of the fight but I feel it was much closer than you. Kessler won the early and late rounds. It was a good fight certainly no schooling....**** ask TFFP or Dane Pugilist I think even they will agree with me:yep

Jones has had trouble against Southpaws. He was knocked down by Lou De Valle and then had 3 tough fights with Tarver including one where he was brutally KOed. This fight should have happened 5 years ago.
