You still havent explained as to what it means if Pac does better numbers than he did with Margo and Cotto. With CBS having access to over 120 million viewers to watch the countdown for this fight we will soon find out how significant HBO means to boxing since they only have access to 30 million viewers to watch the countdown. With HBO this fight would of been guranteed around 600,000 to 1 million buys but we dont know what were going to get with showtime. ESPN and Showtime fighters flock to HBO the second they get an offer from them. This is Showtime's chance to flex their mainstream muscle and see just how much of an influence Showtime really has.

<500,000 buys = HBO controls boxing, Arum looks foolish

500,000 - 1.1mill buys = Dont mean anything, Arum keeps pride

    >1.1 mill buys = HBO looks foolish, Arum looks like a genius and Showtime will continue to show countdowns on CBS and all the big named fighters Cotto,Pac,Mayweather,Khan will leave HBO for Showtime permanently.

Mosley/PBF pulled around 1.4 million buys when the fight was in high demand by the boxing public. Mosley wasnt coming off any bad performances and considered a huge threat to PBF at the time.

Make sense, but you should also consider the non casual boxing fans that are fed the bull**** by 360 and Bob Arum, thats 115 million right there, alot of homes to lie to to make em buy it. right? :hey

I believe the fight will be 1M- 1.2M, but thats a dissapointment considering its out of 115million homes.

Could Bob Arum know the fight will flop so hes using Showtime/CBS to cover up this overhyped fight?

How the hell does Arum keep his pride if this fight does in the range of Pac-Clottey????

Arum does'nt keep his pride here, if it does in the Clottey range, the fight is a failure, as there was an opponent beside Mosley that would have done much more.:deal

Arum keeps his pride because he takes money away from HBO for what they did to Cotto. If it bombs then he loses money and the jokes on him. If its a major success then Arum has made his statement and HBO would be wise not to mess around with him next time.

How is it a failure if it does as much numbers in the Clottey range? Pac/Mosley is getting bombarded by the media as a disgraceful fight whereas Pac/Clottey was regarded as a legit fight.

You're not even thinking rationale here, you're just still sore because your boyfriend isnt the one thats fighting and have yet to answer my question.

Mosley was chosen because according to Arum, its the biggest money fight out there beside Mayweather.

You're going to tell me Pac-JMM does'nt easily outsell Pac-Clottey????:nut

.......thats why if Pac-Mosley does Clottey numbers, its a failure of a fight.

Arum is right, it is the biggest money fight out there for the promotion besides Mayweather. With GBP on JMM's side Arum will have to split promotion revenue's with another promoter whereas with uncontracted Mosley he gets all the promotion intake. It would of ended up with Pac taking less money than he will with Mosley that is if Marquez gets the same guranteed that Mosley is asking for. Arum is only aiming for the mainstream now and has abandoned the boxing fanbase when it comes to Pac because Pac can sell atleast 500,000 PPV buys against anyone just with his star attraction alone. If it does Clottey numbers it is expected and far from a flop.

If the fight does significantly under a million it will be seen as a failure. Even if the money Arum takes away from it will say otherwise. Don't see it happening though. 1.2-1.5 million buys is my prediction. Arum was able to get 1.15 million buys out of Margarito, with the backlash from his cheating ban and after his horrendous beatdowm to Mosley. And that's what they should play on in the promotion, that Mosley beat Margarito first and worse than Pac did. And also the African American angle that Pac avoids black fighters.

You cant compare the two when it comes to drawing power. Margarito has a staunch Mexican fanbase. Mosley only has a bunch of fairweathered fans that only like him when hes at the top.

Bingo, and I'm predicting it wont do a million buys.

.......certainly if it does do well above 1 million, then absolutely its a sucess.......but its not going there is what I'm saying.

    My assertions were, Pac-Mosley 700k to 900K........

    Pac-JMM 1.2 to 1.6 million.

will see how its promoted. Hbo has better quality. But right now showtime has better fights. HBO desperatly needs Money may. Showtime right now has pacquiao, cotto, juanma, rios, and control 160 to 167. HBO has Berto, williams, martinez, kahn, bradly and alexander.

Not sure why they passed up Cotto for martinez. Cotto like third top money maker. If they wanted the date for martinez or any other guy. put him under cotto's fight as an undercard. I picture HBO to step it up. This year will be great for boxing if Arum can pull this off.

Well after he'd lost 4 times to Forrest and Winky, Mosley-De La Hoya II still did 950K PPV buys. So that's not really true, though granted they had history with their first fight. Arum is banking on Mosley's being one of the most recognised names in the sport and the fact casual fans have typically responded in good numbers when he fought Mayweather and De La Hoya.I disagree Margo has a significantly bigger fanbase, atleast fans that buy their fights. The are about the same. Their fight was non-PPV, and both did similar numbers vs Cotto.
