How many times was Nigel Benn down in his career?

    I remember watching it on TV and thinking it had a really nasty feel to it. I've got a mate who watched it in a pub, he'd followed Benn's career closely but after that fight he said he never watched a boxing match on the box for the rest of the 90's, it was that bad. It was a really messy fight and Benn was all over the place at times, he just had a lot of heart but some people talk about it like it was a boxing masterclass combined with Rocky Balboa levels of heart. It was two idiots going at it, the bigger idiot coming off a lot worse.

    It's awful watching the fight back. People talk about how good of a fight it was but McClellan was acting strange for a good few rounds before it ended. Very very disturbing how he was allowed to carry on.

    Just finished reading Benn`s book again and though he said Wharton really hurt him there is no mention of a knock down

    It Wasn't scored.

    But he did go down, i really thought when it happened that Wharton would go for it, and i believe to this day that if he put it on Benn he would have won and stopped him.
