Creating more rounds only will mean lazier fights and more pacing, specially at the bigger 240 guys now that exist now. Less rounds equals more punches because less time frame to win the fight.

The closest 300 pounder with skills was Butterbean...he was actually fast of hand with a decent jab and skills.....at 6'0 and 300 plus however he would never be a legit top ranked guy,he was a 4 round fighter for that reason. Even Wlad at 6'6 or fury at 6'9 would never be able to carry that weight and be at their best....so the answer is no......Vitali at 6'7 250 was the best biggest guy ever...it wont get much bigger than that.

    Butterbean was a bum.
The old,fat glass-chinnned Rahman victim Lewis destroyed the 100% prime quitali.quitali never was the best biggest or
    smallest or stupidest "GUY" ever.

Otherwise re****ed question.Who cares a stupid boxing fan's unimportant opinion? I hope the best/most talented fighter can be the heavyweight champion without PED or another cheating ****.

And I thoroughly disagree with that....it ignore's history's great 15 round battles where conditioning was far more important than it is today. Also forgotten is that all the divisions below heavyweight would be enhanced by the 15 round limit. The dumbing down and excuse making for today's age continues, I see. Why not reduce title fights to 10, even 8 rounds then, to accommodate the lazy athlete's of today who gas out going 12 rounds. Wouldn't 8 or 10 round title fights be even more exciting in a "rock em/sock 'em" sort of way? Just eliminate clinching,...holding of any sort, no pacing necessary at all,...and boy, the casual fight fans, ...the fruit flies with zero attention span would be delighted, wouldn't they? **** the history of boxing,...let's reduce boxing to the level of MMA...allow hitting a man when he's down, maybe an 8 count and you're out instead of a 10 count. In other words, *******ize the sport even further for the casual fan so that he won't lose interest.

    Butterbean...oh yeah termite....that's a high standard...hey let's make all nontitle fights just 3 rounds...Title fights 6 rounds...that would be great, wouldn't it?

No. But we did see a 300 pound legend with skills, stamina, and *** appeal.

There will be no other Sir Nikolay Valuev. The universe isn't large enough to sustain 2 of him.

Who in this thread has suggested that we should dumb down boxing?? Your tirade is misplaced here.

You also seem to be exaggerating the difference between 12 and 15-round fights. 12 round fights still test conditioning and require pacing, especially considering that fighters haven't trained for 15-rounds since before most of today's fighters were born. We've had plenty of classic 12-round fights. What's so great about 15 rounds? Why not go back to 50-round fights if you like pacing so much?

FWIW, I would be completely fine with them eliminating clinching. I'd much rather see guys work on the inside or use their legs and defensive skills instead of holding onto their opponents until a ref comes to rescue them.

Butterbean at 300 plus like Valuev is a high standard..Why? Because those are the few 300 pounders that were pro boxers that's why! I was also replying to reason123 asking if we would ever see a 300 plus pound HW champion with skill and stamina, which would obviously be NO...remember the scarecrow from the wizard of oz "if I only had a brain" ? :silly

they still test it, but not the same level, period. there is no counterargument that says otherwise.

theres also a knockon effect where once 12 rounders becomes the "title" fight length, lesser matches on the same bill are more inclined to be shorter bouts.

A 300 pound man with skills and stamina? That would be a unicorn. Very rare and he would still need lots of things to be #1.

There are two huge 300 pounders out there on the way up. One is from South Africa, the other from China.

Neither are good enough to make the top ten in my opinion.

I'm not really bothered by super-heavyweights like the Klitschkos. Genuine super-heavyweights. But I think it's cringe worthy when a guy that is 6'2'' eats himself to 240 lb to be competitive.

Gone are the days of pressure fighters and boxers, nowadays you only have sluggers and the ocassional boxer-puncher like Wladimir who wins because he has the strongest punch and longest arms....
