If the Fertitta Brothers owned it, and ran it as they do the UFC?

far worse no unification fights, no proper rankings, fighters not being paid well and boring fighters not getting their shot.Could you see dana promoting wrinky wright, cory spinks or pernall whitaker to a title fight.Plus dan white would be in charge

I think it would be much better. Full stacked cards every month, one champion per division, yeah that would do for me.

You don't need unification fights if 95% of the best talent in the world is with one company. Rankings are entirely subjective at best, arbitrary at worst. Undercard fighters get paid better in MMA than boxing, and top guys get paid plenty. He's put Jon Fitch, Tim Sylvia, Lyoto Machida in title matches and is about to put Gray Maynard and Yushin Okami in ones as well.

So how about you try again.

Undercard fighters don't get paid better and no top ufc fighter makes top boxing money even with their ppvs being similar if not more.Subjective rankings are better then no rankings.Boxing does not cut fighters for being boring or for annoying the boss. The ufc does not have 95% of the talent and not being able to see couture/fedor,lesnar/fedor,lesnar/overeem,Melendez/Penn,Aoki/Penn,Nick Diaz/GSP,Alvarez/Penn because of company policy is bs

How on earth is a FRANCHISE going to run a SPORT??!?! Seriously what economic model or country would allow that to happen? The UFC is NOT a league. Its a FRANCHISE much the same way NFL teams and NBA teams are but are under the jurisdic and governance of the Leagues they operate in.
Boxing would be far worse for fighters economically if the UFC were allowed to run an entire sport. Bottom line is it would never happen and imo a farely fruitless debate.

Some small corrections to your otherwise accurate post.

The UFC is not a franchise.

A franchise like say McDonald's has a Franchisee and a Franchisor. The Franchisor essentially through a legal agreement, stipulates what the Frachisee can and can not do.

If this were applied to sports it would more comparable to sport leagues as you mentioned.

This is more along the lines of a monopoly, where there's essentially only one owner who dictates the market. If one wants to get more techical it could be considered an duopoloy (ie two companies dictating the market) or if you strech it out further perhaps a ogipoloy (small group of companies dictating the market).

No boxing just doesn't bothing booking boring fighters who aren't stars or friends with stars onto the major cards. Don't be blinded by the HBO purses, the money for genuine undercard boxers is drying up. Rankings mean jack****. Tell me one sanctioning body ranking that is actually credible. The UFC does have 95% of the worlds top talent and the few fights we don't get is a drop in ocean to the fights that we would miss in any other alternative system.

HBO is the major league for boxing so it is directly comparable with the ufc.so lets see boxing :Marquez $1.4 mill, Katsidis $530K, Berto $910K, Hernandez $75K, Caballero $200K, Litzau $50K ufc:100 for example
Brock Lesnar: $400,000 (no win bonus) def. Frank Mir: $45,000
Georges St-Pierre: $400,000 ($200,000 win bonus) def. Thiago Alves: $60,000
Jon Fitch: $90,000 (includes $45,000 win bonus) def. Paulo Thiago: $8,000
Litzau must be a star or friends with stars to earn more then Frank Mir (a former ufc hw champ and current at the time interim hw champ)
The sanctioning bodies rankings maybe wacky but the ring rankings are legit are their champs. The bodies are still a great way for a fighter to make a name and decent paydays

If this is relating to the Mayweather-Pac fight getting done, how do we know the Fertitas could even sign both fighters?

They can't even sign the best fighter in the world in their own sport.

I couldn't see a guy like Mayweather signing up with them, considering he gave up on signing slave contracts when he left Arum.

Besides that, we'd get better cards, but fighters would get paid less (This is the only reason GBP would love a similar monopoly, don't get it twisted). Don't know if the fact they aren't making as much money as they should has anything to do with the lack of professionalism inherent in so many UFC fighters, but boxing would die a quick death if it's ranks were rife with unprofessionalism and bad attitudes seen rampant in the UFC.

Also under a UFC type system we'd get situations where fighters, no matter how good they are, might be frozen out because they have a perceived boring style, and other fighters who fans find exciting get given preferencial treatment. You basically have three guys deciding the fights, and of course their interest rests firstly and foremost on their business.

As a result we've seen a lot of recycling of old champs and popular fighters well past their use by date, passed off as headliners on PPVs. I had enough of that when Don King had a monopoly on the heavyweight division. I don't want to imagine how bad it would be if he'd had control of all the divisions.
