How much did Joe Cortez ruin the hatton mayweather fight?

this same dickhead ref spoiled the hatton / mayweather fight then the fcuker went on too let hopkins hug n hold against calzaghe

 

He stopped it being more competative. You would think Floyd would win but a few more body shots and rough tactics wouldn't hurt. Ultimately I don't think Floyd would unravel mentally from Hattons tactics but it is clear that Hatton did unravel from Floyds.

At the end of the day a more disciplined fighter would have got on with it.

It is a myth though that Mayweather 'schooled' Hatton all the way through the fight. The first six rounds Hatton was a nightmare to handle, and you could see Floyd hardly enjoyed it. It was only in the second half when Mayweather's talent and ring IQ truly showed the difference in class.

Cortez is a terrible ref mind.

I think Ricky went in with the Tszyu mentality walk through rough him up because hdoesnt like the "rough stuff" the truth is Mayweather was well prepared for this. I think to a certain extent it worked for Hatton for a while but he couldnt maintain it and Mayweather was able to neutralise it then pick Hatton apart.

 

The thing that riles me most is 5 months later he was letting Hopkins get away with worse against Calzaghe. The man is a ****.

 

What a fix that was the same ref that let Hopkin's hold, head but, cheat a low blow against Calzaghe...
I reckon the fight would not off ended like that it would of gone all the way... Theres no way Hatton was going to win a round fighting Mayweather on the outside non what so ever...

Lets not practice history revisionism here. I am not sure how you can say Hattn was a nightmare to handle, since he didn't land a single really good punch on Mayweather the whole fight.

 

But Mayweather was also getting the better of Hatton on the inside

We can only speculate on that but for me he ruined it a lot

That's not to say the outcome would have been different. For me hatton was already some way past his peak. Which was the tszyu fight IMO, in terms of freshness and hunger.
