Thats alot of weight. Since hatton doesnt really hit all that hard it proves you cant measure punching power by how much a person weight lifts.
I don't see what's so impressive? A shrug is raising your shoulders as high as possible, aiming to touch your ears, in the video Hatton brings his shoulders up about half an inch then brings his head down, that is not a shrug. Just another guy trying to show off with stupid amounts of weight.
you do have a good point, those style of shrugs are very easy to do. If Im using dumbells for shrugs I will normally use 60# dumbells for 2*60 = 120lbs total If Im using the bench press lever machine which can be used for shrugs the exact way hatton is doing it then I will do 3 plates each side for 2*3*45 = 270 lbs more than double what I do with the dumbells. I can use 4 plates as well for 360 total lbs but then I sacrafice form and dont bring it up as high with that amount so I usually stick to 3 plates each side. So thats 2x as much using great form and 3x as much doing small shrugs compared to what I would do using dumbells.
Hes an accumulative puncher who has a high workrate. Him beating a shot castillo with one punch doesnt mean nada. I wouldnt describe him as being heavyhanded, well maybe a little.
Have any of you lot been in a gym before? Ofcourse there 20kg plates and theres 6 a side. So hes shrugging 240kg on a machine with wrist straps. Now 240kg is allot of weight but its only shrugs. Because its only shrugs its not that impressive actually. The weights only moving a fraction. Seriously I haven't done this exercise since I was a teenager and I did a fair amount more than him when I used to do it (I'm 210lbs now and was around 180lbs when I used to do that exercise), I always had a strong back/traps though
