I would still back Nogueira against a lot of the guys in the SF tourney. Cro Cop is mentally shot. Nogueira is still game, provided he doesn't get caught.
UFC have 2 dream pairings Cain vs JDS Brock vs Shane They should have these two pairs face off in a best of 3 That would be purdy koo
Bull****. It's got to be proved in the ring, Pops! Crocop never looked shot when he was beating Barnett's ass and now alot of misinformed posters on this forum are talking about how Barnett is so great. He was 0-3 against Crocop. If Crocop and Nogueira are shot then guess where they got shot? In the UFC by the top UFC heavies that unlike the Strikefarce heavies actually fight each other. They could still beat most of the top heavies in Strikeforce. It's not like Overeem crushed Crocop when they fought. Overeem was winning the fight but it wasn't a total domination and he didn't KO Crocop. I'd love to see a Fedor/Nogueira rematch now since Fedor has shown a recent vulnerability to submissions. The Strikeforce heavyweights could be the best but it has to be proven in the ring. I would love nothing more than someone like Overeem to come into the UFC and crush everyone there - but until he actually does it - he doesn't get a free pass. Reem needs to fight some actual top heavyweights in MMA! I can only imagine what the ridiculous anti-UFC posts on this forum would have looked like if Brock Lesnar defended his belt against Todd Duffee instead of Velazquez. Gimmme a break. At this point Lesnar even has more heavyweight cred due to his victory over Carwin than OVereem does for his fights against Rogers and Duffee - a never was and a UFC reject. That's not how one gets a top ranking. I'm not sorry to ruffle so many feathers on this subject because I'm just stating facts. With the exceptions of Overeem and Fedor, Nogueira and Crocop could walk into Strikeforce today and dominate it. (somewhere across the pond, Scurla rolls in his sleep.)
Sugarngold you cant seriously be that ******ed. You obviously work for Zuffa. Take your agenda back to Sherdog cause it aint washin over here :hi:
The UFC HW division will come back but for the time being CC, Nog, Carwin, Lesnar are coming off of big losses. Cain, JDS and Mir seems to be the face of the division at the moment.
I'm sorry but for me Mir winning against a shell of CC doesn't make him relevant...he is still what he is...Frank Mir...nothing more, nothing less !
If you're going to step to me you better back it up with something or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow every one of your posts down!
Yes, but they are coming off losses to the other top heavyweights. That's the way it should be. Hell they could all be on ten fight winning streaks as long as every top ten UFC fighter only fought the Todd Duffees and Brett Rogers of the world.
Cro-Cop's best win in his last ten fights is Pat Barry. He is as shot as they come. He wouldn't be the heavy favorite against anybody in the SF tournament except for Rogers. Frank Mir has never been as good as his marketing claims. He is incredibly inconsistent. Carwin is just not a very good fighter, overall. His is Brett Rogers with better wrestling.
You think Nog would dominate Silva? Or Werdum these days? What about Barnett who beat him and is in much better nick? Nogs slow, chins down but he still has good hands, balls and a good ground game. So he could potentially be a threat if he didn't get knocked the **** out in a brutal fashion.... Cro Cop is shot to ****.
Honestly, neither organization has a big advantage over the other in the heavyweight division. The only way for StrikeForce to appear to have the best heavyweight is for Fedor or Overeem to win the tournament. Fedor has the best resume of any fighter, and a couple of good wins can get him back on top after his loss. Overeem has tons of talent, but offers very little in terms of mma heavyweight credibility on his resume. Overeem will have to win some credible fights to win this tournament, making him an easier argument for the top spot. Any other tournament winner will be considered an elite heavyweight, with a solid claim to cream of the crop billing. There will still be a lot of questions. Was Fedor too old? Was Overeem a good win for the victor, or was he just not the goods in mma? Werdum won, but he couldn't beat Dos Santos...etc...etc... If Fedor and Overeem lose, the winner of Dos Santos and Velasquez will probably receive the most recognition in regards to being the sport's best heavyweight. Dos Santos will have beaten the man that beat Fedor, and the UFC's best heavyweight. Velasquez will have defended against the man that beat the man that beat the man, if he successful.
Roy Nelson is a good fighter! I'd like to see him in SF rather than the UFC. As for a UFC HW tournament... :yep It would have to be a four man tournament! Either that or make it an openweight and get Anderson, Rua, Evans and Bones in it! Now that i would watch! I bet them four could take out most of the best heavies in the UFC :deal Lynchburg
Yes. Yes. And yes. I think people throw around the word "shot" way too much and try to write off fighters too easily. Minotauro Nogeira like Fedor is not one to write off easily.
