How Much Weight Was Gerald McCellan Known to Cut?

they may just be gym rumours, but i've heard multiple times that G-man was proper ****ed up at kronk after the jackson fights. blinking weird, forgetting ****, etc. from the sounds of it, he was damaged good before the fight with benn went down but again, who knows

 

this is what ive heard that after fighting jackson he was suffering from headaches , like you say its all so unclear

 

Yeah, I heard that as well. Apparently Don King paid off the doctors and had McClellan cleared anyway. Not sure how much to by into it, but it wouldn't really surprise me if true. There was definitely something wrong with him prior to the fight.

 

This is a popular biological theory, where the water that would have absorbed impact just wasn't there and his brain was rattling around his skull. GMAN was certainly a weight drainer, the loss of Steward, the draining without anyone to teach him what to eat, none of it good

He could have been carrying an injury, allot of times after I've had fights I've had headaches, aches and pains in my head for a long time, I think thats part of boxing but Julian Jackson is bound to mess you up worse I suppose

McClellan also looked badly hurt after Benn's accidental flying headbutt

How much credence is given this? I didn't suspect Jackson even hurt him. Hell, their 2nd fight was a complete one-sided bull rush.

I do remember Don King being interviewed after the telecast of the fight. With Gerald still on the canvas, King was assuring everyone that he was alright.

McClellan did get hit with some bombs in their first fight. He never had much in the way of defense when going on the offense. To me it actually looked like the fight was going Jackson's way until McClellan suddenly flattened him. The body shots were taking a toll on him it seemed.

from 3:15 on this video theres a short interview with mcclellan he talks about benn , and about killing himself to make middleweight , towards the end the tv presenters say mcclellan himself said he walks around at 180 which sounds about right , also if you pause the video at 3:19 you will see just how broad his shoulders really were !
