Round 6 or 7 if it’s the Deontay that showed up to fight Fury 3. Ruiz hasn’t looked good since he shook up AJ / the world.
Gelatinized gravy LOL! Perhaps the pudding, wherein lies the truth, is what surrounds his brain? Most of the HW matchups available are a hard call it seems. The chance is good that they may come in fat, or unmotivated, or get caught cheating, or just flat-out look like absolute ass. There doesn't seem enough consistency among the big guys, it makes calling any fight really difficult. I remember predicting HW fights with confidence in the 80' & 90's, but it's much more difficult these days. Holyfield (in his prime) never let me down by coming in fat or looking like he wasn't trying his best, for example. If Wilder loses everyone will say it's because, while possessing incredible power, he just doesn't have the skills to see him through to a decision win. It certainly wouldn't shock me if Ruiz gets a UD. On the other hand, if Ruiz loses (especially if he comes in very heavy), it's because he wasn't in shape, taco this, burrito that, etc etc etc. I can't pick a winner in this one, it would be easier if the HW division was very active with guys fighting more often and against better competition, to gauge them and not be shocked by how they perform because they're not active enough.
I expect Wilder & Ruiz will come in full form Both lost Both rely on a win for their career Both went through weight issues due to loss of confidence (Wilder) or laziness (Ruiz) Either can win it. Wilder will do better long range but it's a little sloppy and anytime Ruiz can get close he will outwork Wilder.
Ruiz needs to come in at gelatinous 350 lbs and in the shape of a cube so he can be a human shock absorber and then just press Wilder without going into cardiac arrest
Agreed. I hope whoever loses, stays dedicated and continues to fight the best fighters that are out there. Maybe the loser could fight someone like a Parker, who could use a good win to get back into the scene, unless he's retired? Not sure. If Wilder looks awesome against Ruiz, where would you rate him? Maybe #4, after Fury, Usyk & Joyce?
The thing with Wilder is he can actually box decently at long range. It's a myth that he's totally useless. He just looks so poor to the eye. it was hardly easy pickings for Fury excluding the 2nd bout. He's like Joyce more to him than meets the eye. Wilder loves to bait people but Ruiz is smart enough to work his way in smartly he's going to get clipped though...Wilder needs to keep it smart if AJ can win a decision of tubsy then so can Wilder with a knockdown or hurting Ruiz would help.
Never liked Wilder as a person. I don’t particularly like him as a fighter. But For some reason I am routing for him to have a good finish to his career. He will knockout Ruiz by the mid rounds.
Agreed,I’d be very surprised if Ruiz makes it past the halfway mark, however this will be a very interesting fight while it lasts,Wilder himself may even suffer a knockdown .
Depends. Ruiz is a counter-puncher, but I'm not certain he is the kind of counter-puncher that you want to be against Wilder. He fancies the high-guard, plodding ever forward and threatening with his lead foot, setting up traps and countering in combinations. Still, despite his pedigree, he tends to be overly mexican in his approach for my taste, not that well rounded or adjustive, and lacks in slickness to make Leshen lower his volume and pick his shots carefully. Granted, the perceived hittability of the high-guard may just give Ruiz the opportunities he needs to time Wilder and batter him up close. I reckon lots will depend on Wilder's chin, the referee, and Andy's mental fortitude against the artillery. This fight is a D-Day for him.
Ruiz has a good chin but he's been down enough to where being knocked out isn't that crazy. I considered Parker to have the best chin in the division and Joyce ko'd him. I guess Joyce has the most power at HW.
Joyce has the highest workrate of anyone. even if his punch count is lower his workrrate is still higher because of the physics of the energy he must expel in a fight he's a 270 pound juggernaut Fury, Usyk and Joyce have GOAT new generation workrates, Both Fury and Usyk pull lots of their punches for economy but Joyce even less so. The man is a nuclear powerplant. 844 punches most of them with power 270 pound man is SCARY Usyk at his best only manages 1000 Regardless these stats are INSANE. Fury relies on his defence and footspeed to survive this against joyce. The same thinv Usyk needs to do to survive Fury.
