Whats really killing boxing is washed up bums being repackaged as threats over and over a la Andrew Golota.
Anyone that says that if they were in PBF's shoes they would not have went after De La Hoya loses all credibility whatsoever. Its the most blatant lie in the history of the forum. Or at least since 1999.
Leave him alone, if you want to bash somebody for sentences about killing boxing than bash me. I've pulled out this subject.
Floyd is great for boxing, it was wonderful watching him humiliate Oscar. He did it without footwork at time, just sat on the ropes and used purely upperbody movement. Beautiful.
I love when people say certain fighters are "killing boxing" Yeah it has nothing to do with HBO multi-fight contracts, promoter greed, alphabet organizations, the mainstream turning its back on boxing, lack of sponsors, globalization (actually that's a good thing but people are too much looking at it from an American POV).. One fight or fighter isn't going to save or kill boxing.
Oh as opposed to RJJ? Benn, Eubank, Watson, Collins, Calzaghe, McClellan and DM. 5 out of the 6 campaigning in what most consider his best weight class. No Hopkins rematch, No Toney rematch, just a bunch of hopelessly overmatched opponents.
He wanted it right after Hatton beat Kostya and Hatton's own trainer said that Hatton needs more fights to be ready for Mayweather and Floyd wasn't going to wait for him to be ready, he moved up and took care of other stuff.
