Fury`s movement is better than Tyrell`s was and he has a longer jab and is a lt taller, plus he slips shots better, completely differrent sort of fighter to the stiff, static Tyrell.
Louis would have walked Ali down that wasn`t Paterson`s style and he would have thrown more combo`s at Ali.
Ali was miles off at the end of this vid, he got Louis`s guard completely wrong, his right hand was always ready to parry the jab and his head wasn`t on the center line the way Ali made it look he leaned over to the right out of the way of straight punches, however D`Amato didn`t have the benefit of hindsight and the knowledge of Ali`s chin being able to take Foreman and Shavers best shots, he states Schmeling was tough but Mx couldn`t have taked the hook Frazier dropped Ali with, QI.
Yes, this was taken before Ali had proved his chin. Funny to think anyone would have doubted his chin, lol.
Walcott would be a tough fight for Ali - he would figure out the left hook opening - I think most of the fit era like Charles- Marciano- Louis - Dempsey would be rough fights for Ali- I think Ali had enough speed and stamina to handle the Big Guys - Louis and Ali had each others Kryptonite but Louis had the power to change Stuff - like Frazier did in FOTC
Here is Eddie Futch's analysis of Ali's style and how he trained Norton to approach him: https://i.imgur.com/rj7w0Ax.png
Pretty much yeah. Do whatever Eddie Futch says. Always thought this clip summed up Futch's approach to Ali fairly well. This content is protected
His hands aren't that slow, neither are his feet. Not lightning fast but definitely not slow. His upper-body movement alone, even if he had slow hands/feet, means he won't get treated like Terrell.
You didn't title the video either lol. Futch also trained Frazier. The man certainly spent a lot of time picking his brain over Ali. I just think it's important to point out what Norton brought to the table himself.
To defeat prime Ali, one must look at his weaknesses, which were few in his prime. But..... 1st attribute a fighter would need, is fast hands and feet, he wouldn't need to be as fast as Ali, but he would need to be fast enough to cut off the ring.... This alone eliminates most heavyweights in history. #2, a great left hook, Sonny Banks , Henry Cooper, Joe Frazier, all had quick sharp left hooks. Ali usually saw the right cross, and especially if the opponent looped it in roundhouse fashion. But a left hook troubled him. If I remember right, Ali was cut by Foster with a left hook. #3, ignore the noise!!! Against Ali his opponent needs to be strong willed. Don't fall into the psychological traps. Liston fell in. Foreman Fell in. The opponent must have the conviction of Frazier, or say Holyfield. Tyson would've fell in. The fighter who had the best chance of pulling it off wouldve been Tyson. Tyson had the hand and foot speed to trap Ali, cut the ring off. Tyson also had great head movement, and a devastating left hook . If Tyson had the heart of Frazier, or Holyfield. He'd be considered the G O A.T. he had all the tools to do the job .
