It won't be long before he is calling you a "stupid *****." Whenever you respond all it does is encourage him.
Oh, he already does that. Thing is it just makes him look stupid. I think the only person on here that takes him seriously is younghipnotiq anyways. Besides I've already taken boxing farther than he ever will, so I'm not too worried about it.
Like pudding said defensive drills. Get someone to throw punches at you, preferably a smaller person so it won't bother you as much if he does get through. Start by doing each defensive action on its own, then mix them up later. For example, start with having him throw jabs and slip them. Next, parry them. After that, block them. Then mix it up. Same for the right hand. Next, hooks. First block a left hook. Then duck underneath. After that mix them up. Same for the right hook. Uppercuts idem ditto. If you feel comfortable enough you can have your partner mix them up as well, or just straight punches for example (right and left). After that you can include a counter punch for example. The idea is to take small steps at once.
well one thing you could pay attention to is relaxing in the ring- staying composed and your breathing. good defensive boxers are calm and composed in the ring- under all types of pressure. anyone can attack and go forward- but to weather the barrage of punches- take one here and there- and stop from taking 2 or three in a row is a true art. i d say when u practise sparring - take your time- ask your partner to help u learn and go in with the attitude of improving- not necessarilly winning. denfence can be neglected in training exspecially if your sparring an inferior fighter who has poor offence. many different ways to defend- slipping, blocking, sliding, and many differeent defensive styles in terms of the physical- than obviously reflexes and stam, ina are important- but also the ability to keep your eyess open and not flinch when a punch is difficult but absolutely necessary to master- look at floyd- he d rather get hit in his eyeball than blink- he salways alert and can see everyrthing coming. its not one thing to improve on - its everytnhing. i guess u d need a trainer who knows you and can see u day in and day out to improve really- its a lifelong trade to learn- some bloke posting on the net and u reading it isnt going to make u a defensive fgenius.
u sparred roy jones? no joke? have u seen anthony mundine in there with him? i heard mundine went to the states to help roy prepare=- whats the sparring like between the two of them? id love to see those two go at it- the old master- and his imitator.
