Indeed so. However, Ortiz can still punch. He nearly had Wilder, and I reckon he punches hard enough to take out anyone at HW if he gets them cleanly.
Love Usyk, and a smart Usyk could ( key word here ) dance around old man Ortiz for 12 rounds and win with ease. As good as Usyk is though, I think that it would be wishful thinking that Ortiz, who would know that he'd have no chance of outboxing Usyk, wouldn't at some point land that big left on him. Ortiz is still a top level heavyweight, there's a reason why Crusiers seldom move up and beat top heavyweights with ease, and it's not speed.
This was only brought up to try and diminish Wilder's win over Luis Ortiz. The fact of the matter is Luis Ortiz would annihilate Usyk, the size difference cannot be ignored and Ortiz will land something powerful. If Usyk would beat all these heavyweights, then he would be at heavyweight and not hide in the cruiserweight division fighting for peanuts.
I think Ortiz with his style and his abilities will rock anybody out there even if he is gonna lose some fights. He would also rock guys like AJ. If Usyk survives and it will go the distance Usyk will surely have some advantages.
I really hope that Usyk and Gassiev are fighting at HW in 2019. There seems to be, for the first time in recent memory, the belief that the top cruisers can transition to, and challenge at heavyweight due to the current quality at CW and a perceived lack of it at HW. Usually it's just presumed by most that the modern heavies are too big, but this current crop has people thinking. I lean towards size and power being too much of a hurdle but I honestly hope we just get to find out.
