Could Eddie Machen realistically defeat any heavyweight champs or top contender s from other era's? Especially later one's?
He’d do decently in the Holmes era, probably picks up a belt. The 90s is difficult, he’d beat Morrison, maybe Mercer, but he’d lose to Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson. He’d beat McCall, possibly Ruddock. He’d most likely win a belt in the 2000s, with Chagaev, Briggs, Liakovic, Valuev etc. 2010s, he’d likely struggle.
Yes he could be trouble for a lot of guy s I think . In the seventy s I can see him perhaps beating such as Lyle, Bugner, maybe Jimmy Young , perhaps competitive will Norton.
Machen was such a strange case, former armed robber and yet not a natural fighter, he looks and feels like one but lacked killer instinct and distinct will to win imo. Had his mental health struggles - might be a total disaster to himself in the eighties. I have a feeling Machen would find a way to lose. If you get what I mean.
Yep I get you, and being an heavyweight in the 80s , what's the chance of not having some bad **** happening to you!
