Forrest was a strong and big welter who possessed a hard jab and maximizes the reach by fighting at a distance. The Mayorga fight was just very unfortunate for him but hey, Floyd did not have Mayorga's power and brutish strength.

Yeah, stylistically a bad fight for Floyd.

    Forrest on points.

I agree. I love Shane and he is great, but Floyd was much more technical than Shane was defensively. I was never a big fan of Mayorga. I thought he had good style for some fighters, but in the end he lost to every good fighter he fought. He reminded me of a fighter in the 1980s named Juan Roldan. Wild puncher and hard puncher but easy to hit.

Wasn't Vernon in his prime when he got whooped by Mayorga?

Come on, you can't compare Mayorga's fighting style with Floyds. Two completely different animals. And Mayorga was, indeed, an animal in the ring. He was Forrest's kryptonite. But on paper, Forrest had all the attributes to give Floyd fits.

Good fight! I think a prime Vernon gives Floyd fits, and uses that long, stiff jab to win a convincing decision. Unless Floyd goes psycho wild-man on Forrest and psychs him out, like Mayorga did, which was apparently Vernon's Kryptonite.

Newbies like you should learn that styles make fights. Forrest is to Mayweather what Mayorga was to Forrest.

Floyd don't punch hard enough to stop him late.

He lost to Mayorga once legit. The rematch was exhibit A regarding incompetent judges, and how corrupt compubox is. Either that or how corrupt boxing is. The focused Forrest that beat Mosely would have never lost to Mayorga period.

Yup. That first fight Mayorga got in Forrest's head, and had him brawling instead of simply boxing him. In the rematch, Forrest's trainer wasn't ****, telling him to jab jab and grab that mother ****er, and not to break his hand on Mayorga's face. In Forrest's defense, he outlanded Mayorga big time in the rematch in damn near every round. He was simply penalized for being on his horse. Their rematch is a prime candidate for one of the worst compubox fights ever. CompuBox had Mayorga landing 40 power shots through 4 rounds, when he was lucky if he landed 10 -15 punches period by that point of the fight.

Don't even get me started on the ****ing joke that is CompuBox! I still can't believe how so many, put so much stock into something so flawed. Like it's the ****ing be all end all, when in reality it's 2 (usually old) dudes counting punches thrown and landed. It's a ridiculous and unnecessary (judges don't use the damn thing to score rounds so what's the point) distraction for fans who are too lazy to decide who they think won a round themselves. Really annoys the **** out of me when people site CompuBox as their sole reason for any fighter winning a fight. What I want to say every time "God damn those numbers are just how 2 people saw the fight numb-nuts!"

But all that does is unlock the butthurt/nutthugger accusations....Oops sorry for the rant, guess I started on the subject anyway

 @ people bringing up a prime mayorga to discredit Forrest, as if the reasons Forrest lost to Mayorga (who also should have / almost beat a prime spinks) has any relivence to how a matchup with Mayweather would go.

The Mayorga fight is completely irrelevent when talking a Mayweather vs Forrest fight.

Forrest lost to Mayorga, so no way would he would be able to beat the quicker punching and future hall of famer Shane Mosley. Right? Right?

Styles, people. Mayweather would have his hands full with a prime, injury-free Viper.

You can't counter what you can't reach. Forrest would keep Floyd at the end of that jab all night.
