Looks like he'll be signing with the UFC later this year, so how do you think he'll fare against the middleweights he'll be facing? Marquardt, Okami, Sonnen, Bisping, Leben, etc...
If Mayhem takes anyone to the ground he can easily submit them and he has nasty Muay Thai. His ground and pound is top notch as well.
Hard to say but I think staying away from Jacare is probabley a good ideal, the combination of good wrestling and exellent submission abilties is Mayhems kryptonite IMHO.
Well he's probably the only person who can get caught in a Jacare leg lock, give a thumbs up then escape. I literally think he's un-submitable..
he'd fair so so. he isn't really very good. his striking is okay and his jits is good. i can't see him beating gsp, fitch, koscheck, penn, alves etc
True. Completely forgot about that cos when ever I think of UFC I think of him vs GSP and Shields. At 185, Silva would **** him up bad. So would Belfort and Nate and Okami and Sonnen. Not even sure if he could beat Akiyama, Bisping, Silva, Maia, Palhares or Stann.
The thing about strikeforce is, unfortunately, it's just not a top tier org. Guys can be really good at strikeforce level, but as soon as they move up to the UFC they become instantly mediocre. Tbh this is the only reason you can question Overeem atm. He ticks all the boxes, but until we see him against the likes of Velasquez, Dos Santos or Lesnar we can't really tell. I could see mayhem possibly taking Bisping, but he'd have to rely on hurting him. One thing that's for sure is he would never get anywhere near the top of that division. Not with Silva and Belfort in his way, or Sonnen if he ever comes back.
