I think Floyd will use the left hook more because Guerrero always moves to his own right away from Floyds right hand. Robert has very good lateral movement which he showed vs Klassen. The thing is Floyd depends so heavily on just the lead right that hes gonna eat counters and struggle early untill he finds his mark later on. Thise mid rds will be when Guerrero has to turn it up and keep up with Floyd. Guerrero had been training before that photoshoot. Hes never had a six-pack and he didnt look out of shape. If anything he looked strong and grown into 147.
:huhFloyd doesn't think much against southpaws? You and a whole lot of other people here who say the same thing must have not saw his fights against Zab Judah and Demarcus "Chop Chop" Corley seeing how he adjusted in those two fights before eventually winning them convincingly, the Corley fight being the more decisive of the two.
Styles make fights, Guerrero is very under-rated. Ortiz gave Mayweather some trouble but got stopped due to a freak incident, but probably would have been anyway. Guerrero has twice the heart as Ortiz a much better chin and is just better in my opinion. Tough fight this.
Mayweathe has faded a bit but the fact his back at his natural weight of 147 should help alot Guerreros aggressiveness wins him the first 2 or 3 rounds max before mayweather clinic opens for business
I don't see how Guerrero's style could have any effect on Mayweather or it's difference from marquez's against mayweather. Guerrero isn't even conditioned enough to close the distance between him and Mayweather for 12 rounds, he didn't look in great shape in the first face-off picture and is relying on training camp to be in great shape. Marquez however was in much better shape, but couldn't do anything even when the distance was closed. Mayweather is simply going to be landing right hand leads all night long, just like he did with Hatton. He's is in shape all-year round and only has to lose or gain 2-3lbs depending on the fight and the weight limitations (catchweight, welterweight, jrmiddleweight). 2lbs is not a big difference. No one says anything when other fighters are being drained making weight against other fighters.
You dont see how Guerreros southpaw style will make any difference than from Marquez? Also ur speculating that Guerrero isnt in shape or will be in any better shape than when Marquez fought Floyd? The right hand lead is his best punch vs anyone. He tried landing it all night vs Corley and Zab, but he was hit cleanly with right hooks and left hands. Eventually he got the best of the exchanges and began to take over but it was always by exchanging, beating them to the punch. Saying hes gonna land right hand leads all night doesnt mean anything. Sounds like you dont quite understand what is being discussed here.
I think that people are putting way too much emphasis on the age factor when it comes to Mayweather when considering that B-Hop just took another major world alphabet title, the IBF Lightheavyweight belt, from an elite fighter in his division 17-years his junior in Tavoris Cloud and did it in spectacular and convincing fashion, regardless of styles. Plus B-Hop who always stays in tremendous shape in and out of the ring actually has more mileage on his body than Floyd does and had 12-years on "Money" Mayweather so that in itself should say plenty about Floyd's longevity thus far and where he's going in the next few years before he turns 40. I belive against Guerrero that Floyd will look as sharp and evasive as he did against Victor Ortiz before he stopped him in four, which of course was preceeded by Ortiz's out of fustration deliberate head butts on Floyd, and the fact that the fight with Guerrero is taking place at 147 a weight that Floyd still makes with ease will allow him to possibly come up with his sharpest performance since his last fight at 140, with the exception of some style adjustments which Mayweather will so smoothly do. People are going to see "Money" May in vintage form come May 4, and he'll be fighting so sharp and freely and not like a guy who's just practically moving up 14 or 15-pounds in weight like he was doing when he fought Oscar DeLahoya at the full-fledged 154lb weight limit in 2007 or with the black cloud hanging over his head last May when he fought a full-fledged Miguel Cotto at 154 with the 2-month jail sentence that he was scheduled to do right afterwards. He wants to stay sharp and busy and he's going to start doing more than one fight a year following the Guerrero fight. Canelo Alvarez, stay tuned. Your next and at 154!
Thanks for the history lesson Nate. If you think Floyd will have similar success vs Guerrero as he did vs Ortiz. You might wanna read up on this other thread. Bogotazo and I discuss pretty in depth about what happened in the Ortiz fight along with other 'holes' in Floyds game when hes vs a southpaw.
