First of all, I really don't think he would be able to make the 168 pounds limit. Take a look at this picture of him and Haye: http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/46898000/jpg/_46898679_ap_calzaghe_use_this.jpg Seems to me like he has put on a decent amount of weight, you can see it on his face I also think he is at an age, in which the quality of his reflexes and his speed will deteriorate a good deal, when he no longer trains intensively. Had it been a couple of years ago though, he would beat any of the guys in the super six, I think. Dirrell is tricky and difficult to hit? When Joe could deal with Hopkins, I also think he could deal with these aspects of Dirrell. Joe would outwork and frustrate Abraham, although AA would still be dangerous due to his power, and Joe doesn't exactly NOT get hit. Ward would be the most difficult fight for Joe, because he is actually faster than Joe and also quite slick. It would be a close fight, but Joe would get the W due to his experience and workrate. All in all though, if he had to fight all five fights in the tourney though, there would be a decent chance he would lose one of them, because those fights would be as hard as any he has been in so far, and a bad/unlucky night might mean a L at some point.
at his age and with the layoff it would be more of a challenge but he would still win. he is one of the best fighters of the past 25 years. tremendous stamina, great jaw, and no one could match his speed.
Now I doubt Calzaghe could win it - he was in the decline when he retired and hasnt fought in a while. In his prime I think he beats every fighter in the Super 6 at this stage on their careers. Bute would be my first choice go replace Taylor but I am not sure he can.
Can't see him beating Abraham. Like others have said I think the Andres would give him trouble, but I could definitely see him beating one if not both. Beats Kessler and Froch. Obviously doesn't matter here, but he'd clown Taylor too.
Undefeated, unless he got incredibly old in a short span, and assuming he had (and took full advantage of) ample time to train himself back into shape.
to be realistic, even in his prime he wouldn't join such a tournament. It would be to risky, he may lose. Instead of mixing it up with the best in the division I think the self-proclaimed "legend killer" would rather protect his WBO belt.
Hard to say really. I don't view him as a shoe in to beat Abraham and Ward. He's never fought anybody with big KO power like Abraham who can block punches that would off set his volume and the closest fighter that he's fought that is skilled like Ward is B-Hop. He could win it, but doing and people talking about it are two different things.
