I'd like to see Paul McCloskey vs Mallignaggi . It would be a chance to see if McCloskey can step up to a higher level . In my opinion he cant but there would be no shame in losing to Paulie and if the the rules on the EBU are as have been stated then he'd keep his belt .
For Paulie its the chance of a winnable fate to keep his career ticking over and keep his profile up . I'd imagine a fight between an Irishman and an Italian would do pretty good business in New York or help bulk up an undercard .

Disagree with the first part, but not the second, I thought we saw this after Malignaggi's sub par performances against Ngoudjo and N'Dou.

Im with you on this, I dont think Paulie is diminished enough physically, and Gavin advanced enough technically, experience wise, to claim he would certainly win, which is why I would not take it. I think Gavin could win, would have a great shot at winning, but at the moment, its most probably 50/50 based on Gavin's inexperience, Malignaggi's pedigree, where as it needs to be 60/40 scenario before I'd feel comfortable throwing him with someone like Paulie.

I would like to see Gavin in a balls to the wall fight where he proves he can come through a rough fight. Gavin might be looking for guys like Gavin Rees.

Gavin could take Paulie, but its too much of a judgment call to throw him at that level based on his experience imo.

I wouldn't say Malignaggi is much above British level now mate.

A past it Hatton beat him at his own game, Diaz is practically done and Khan made loads of mistakes but still won by stoppage.

It's the sort of fight you want to be aiming for in a year or so..... don't just focus on the domestic scene, try and get a fight in the States to build up your profile over there.

I hope you do it bud, Im from the midlands myself, would love to see you achieve your goals, and hopefully, Don can re-group and fore-fill his potential.

Dunno what you guys are seeing but Paulie has absolutely nothing to worry a skilled boxer. One handed, crap defence, I´d fancy Gavin to be honest. Bit of a leap of faith stamina wise but as long as that holds up I don´t see PM beating him.

Going from Michael Kelly to Paulie Malignaggi is MUCH too big of a step at this moment. He beat Juan Diaz who is a former world champ.
