    Holmes did fear Tyson.

Giachetti said he saw a look in Holmes eye that he'd never seen in any of Holmes other fights, it was the look of fear.

I can see a couple of routes to victory against Holmes.

I think that he would have been in trouble against the best finishers that the division has ever produced, given his propensity for taking right hands.

If he fought Joe Louis the way he fought Mike Weaver for example, he would get his head handed to him.

He would also struggle against pressure fighters such as Frazier and Marciano, for the reasons that all technical boxers struggle against swarmer’s.

In my humble opinion, yes he would.

I don’t think that Holmes would have either the mobility to keep away from Marciano, or the power to keep him off.

you have trouble gaging ACTUAL distance at what is NEEDED to beat these guys...that is required foot ability and hand speed at 5'11...i can TELL you from experience its MUCH harder for a shorter guy to beat a taller guy with Holmes caliber let alone a shorter guy beating a taller guy with less skill than a shorter guy with more skill who is EASIER to hit bc MAKING up distance in boxing hurts the punch value when you have to LAND it.

In short The easier target is ALWAYS easier to fight ...this is the case for this match up of Marciano vs Holmes...its a bad match and that's also bc Holmes had a great chin...good luck Rocky!
