that maybe so but i'm sure the british hatton fans will give pbf massive credit. btw it's refreshing to here a pbf say that he would give hatton his dues and not make up excuses.
Oh no doubt, he still gets credit for the win but I'd still talk **** on him. I just hate watching huggers. It is the one thing that I hate the most in boxing and the one reason I can not get into MMA.
Floyd wont get too much credit here because though Ricky is a strong fighter there are stronger out here ie Williams, Margarito, Cotto, SSM.....but he hand picks a smaller leaky defense fighter who he knows he could beat. He's so confused....first its about the money, now its about history...which one is it??? Im guessing its whch ever one fits his current situation.
I agree all the way. If Hatton can force Mayweather to fight his fight, and pulls out a win because of it, then full credit to him.
Its his only way to beat him. He cant box with him or wait on him so he has to grab hold punch bite kick and everything else he can get away with. I just hope the ref gives some rope to the holding because if he doesnt its gonna be a ugly fight with the ref getting the most camera time.
I don't think that a ref should allow holding simply because a fighter can not win any other way. If ricky can not win without special treatment or rules then I don't see how anyone would consider that a good win. I think that if Ricky trains right he can do it without doing anything dirty. He just has to be willing to take 2 to land one and be persistant. Try to read where Floyd will go and meet him there as opposed to chasing him around the ring. He also has to realize that not any shot will be a KO blow and he needs to just put the gloves on floyd occasionally to score some points. If he tries to load up on every shot he will lose by a landslide.
I love the 'hugging' references to Ricky Hatton. Quite simply put he is short and fights on the inside which leads to clinches. However how many fighters have thrown more punches than Hatton in the ring when facing him. Hatton 'outworks' opponents and is constantly throwing punches. The stats every single fight show it, he outpunches and outworks simple. Sure he has clinches but the suggestion of 'hug and hold' grates, when his punch output is always far higher than his opponent. Hatton is not a Ruiz. Watch him, dont jump on the bandwaggon due to a few fights you may have seen or what you have heard from posters on here.
I hope all the boxing fans have this kind of thinking! :good MAN enough to accept defeat and sport enough to congratulate and give credit to the winner. Hatton is percieved to be the underdog but I would love to see the underdog deafet the number one p4p boxer today! :good :good :good cheers!
Just because he is hitting at the same time that he holds does not mean that he is not holding. It is not just a few fights. Ricky's most commonly used style has always been grappling his opponent and hitting them at the same time. Cory spinks always throws more punches than his opponent, does that mean that he can't possibly be a runner since he is also punching? Usually when a fighter gets a reputation for doing something it's because people have seen him do it.
