id say about 7 .he looked a lot fitter than he was against douglas .but i still think he wasnt as motivated as he was under rooney. he initiated a lot of the clinches in the 2nd fight which i think validates my point .

In defense of both Tyson and Ruddock the rematch was constantly being postponed, then on again, then off again before the combatants had enough time to realize it was officially back on for good.

Check out the book "The Inner Ring" by Tyson's former bodyguard Rudy Gonzalez and the accounts leading up to their first fight and rematch.

You are overplaying the Tucker uppercut, Tyson was just caught squared up off balance he wasn't rocked, the Smith shot was also overplayed, it wasn't a clean shot and Tyson barely blinked.
I think the Ruddock fights were much less convincing performances than the Thomas fight. Thomas was excellent and extremely durable and after a competitive fight Tyson just destroyed him with a vicious display of punching.
In the first Ruddock fight Tyson fought well but he was badly shaken in the 6th round, this never happened with Pinklon Thomas, Smith or Tucker. The finish was also unsatisfying. In the second Ruddock fight Tyson was less impressive than the first, his energy levels seem low and he admits in his autobiography he didn't train hard for the fight.

Tyson wasn't badly shaken against Ruddock. He took a good right at the end of the 6th which made him take a step back, but that was it. That right was more or less on par with the best punches he took from Tucker and Smith, I'd say.

I think Tyson sid afterwards that Tucker lifted him with that uppercut. It was a hard shot. He was a bit rocked, but nothing that serious since his chin was so good. Smith also rocked him a bit. Made him take a step back. But he wasn't really hurt, just a bit stunned for a moment.

Thomas was a good fighter, but had been in rehab for drug addiction and I think there was some trouble with his right. Tyson looked impressive in the first and last round, but nothing special in between.

I too wpukd probably give it a 7 or thereabout. What l do know is they both hurt each other repeatedly. Tyson has said that Ruddock hit like a ****ing mule and Ruddock said those fights took a lot out of both of them. l'm also fan of fighters who get hurt and yet either battle through it or go down in their sword fighting. As a fan, what more can you ask of a fighter?

Tyson himself said the Ruddock fights finished him, he was hurt in both bouts.
