Sorry, mate, hadn't properly read your post re Mike Jones before I posted mine.I think it'd be a really good one,and at least they'd be able to say Kell beat a genuine world class man who wasn't over the hill.If he could do this Id really believe in him,and have more confidence in a shot at someone like Alexander.Youll remember as well as I do when they were all saying Kell would knock him out, over a year ago. Some of the other opponents mentioned on here are not steps forward, just marking time IMO.
i dont like brook all that much however i really wanted him to beat alexander and then fight khan and beat him and i dont think brook is as good as ppl think imo he needs to start fighting better level of opponents and i think that was the plan now with this latest set back i think he will take one or two handy home town fights before he trys to step up a level
It does my head in when people say Brook has fought no marks and will get exposed when he moves up to true world level. Who the **** had Khan fought before he challenged Andreas Kotelnik for his first world title? Nobody, that's who and he was even sparked out less than a year before that. He took his chance to challenge an established and seasoned world champion and dominated him. Amir won every round of that fight and proved he was world class. Who says Kell can't do the same when/if he challenges for a belt? People read to much sometimes into a fighter's record when they make the jump.
Josito Lopez,Cano, senchenko,Randall Bailey, aydin, zavek, bizier,Jessie Vargas This level of fighter I don't want to see another Carson jones fight after the purdy pullouts I'm all Carson jonsed out I agree he was visibly shook up with nerves before the fight in USA and so I think hearns going to have to play a blinder by bringing names to Sheffield.can he finance it or are we going to see brook v Ortiz or berto/maidana on ppv
Certainly if Maidana loses his next fight. Niether would be getting themselves on Showtime any time soon.
Surely they gotta get that Alexander fight on? Surely? I personally think thats the best chance Kell Brook has got of becoming a champion in this division. I still think he loses to Alexander, but it is by far and away his best shot at glory.
the names being thrown about are way above what brook will be tackling. find a list of keep busy names from south america for ideal candidates keep busy fights will be running eliminator a close for hearns favourite option soon
I wouldn't call Kells opponents no marks, but would argue that Matt Hatton is his best foe yet,and he may be just short of world class now.Dont know the ins and outs of the Alexander business, but if he was injured fair enough. But I think people get frustrated when a boxer with his promise doesn't seem to progress like he should.I remember when a fight with K9 fell through, think because the latter pulled out. This was a winnable fight, and if he had he would probably be 3 years in front of where he is now.i.e. at the same stage as Khan.Thats why I think Jones would propel him to where he should be,though by no means an easy fight. Also in another thread,Van Heerden was scoffed at as an opponent, and I think it would push his career on a bit.Unlike Diaz or Aydin,or Jones again.
