Agree with a lot of this but I don't think he'll fight three times this year. Think it'll be: Diaz/Jones/Aydin - Khan and GDB connection/Rematch would sell and IBF ranked opp/Easy to negotiate with Booth. Followed by; Senchenko/Bundu - Hatton connection/Euro champ & highly ranked. Maidana/Malignaggi might come over if they lose again. Think Berto is too used to big paydays and home advantage to come to the UK.
I agree with you,but think theres a fair bit of truth in what Craney saidTwo main management teams and he's not progressed well with either.Along with another member,Id be surprised if he fights in July.He could only have one fight this year,and I wouldn't be surprised if it was Aydin,because of the Booth connection.He was dominated by Soto Karrass,so he's not a contender IMO.As I keep saying,why not Mike Jones,as everybody was saying he would be easy for Kell,plus he must have a decent rating?One loss which I think he'd avenge given the chance.Trouble with this situation,I think ,is as you say been a pro 8 years and we've no idea how good he is.
You lot have to remember tho. July is a ten rounder. So its gonna be a stay busy fight. Nothing exciting.
The main difference being that Khan fought for a world title 4 years and 2 days after his first professional bout. Kell will probably have been a pro 9 whole years before he makes his first challenge. Even putting aside injuries and promotional issues, his opposition has been on the whole laughable. I was a big supporter of the guy, and had claimed he'd be a unified champion. Now I'm just bored with him. He needs to fight decent opponents - it's a simple as that.
I was merely replying to DeMarco who was speculating on what would happen to Brook if he 'gassed out like he did vs Carson Jones' - he just simply wouldn't gas as he shown on numerous occasions he is quite comfortable fighting for 12 rounds against an opponents against whom he could dictate the tempo. Like yourself I haven't a clue if he could survive the shots that finished Jones. I'd like to find out within the next decade at some point.
I'm no Kell Brook fan, not by a long chalk, but to say that he gassed against Jones is bull****. He had his nose badly mashed up mid-rounds, was swallowing blood and could hardly breath....he actually did quite well making it to the end of the fight under those circumstances
Personally I thought the punch which damaged his nose landed on the basis that his work rate had lowered and his reflexes not quite as sharp due to the energy expended in those first five rounds. Jones didn't land a glove on him in those first five. I might be wrong, but that's how I remember it. Might go back and watch it.
If that is the case a lot of the criticism would've been unmerited. I might bash the guy because of the standard of opposition he's faced but I still think he's talented enough to be a multiple belt holder. But whilst he still retains his mandatory position with the IBF I can't see him fighting anybody particularly dangerous until the long awaited bout with Alexander takes place.
I think a lot of the criticism wasn't merited...he's never shown a propensity to gas in the past, pre Jones. In fact I was surprised how fresh he looked after the N'Dou fight where because of his physique I fully expected him to tire in the second half. Swallowing blood and trying to take sufficient oxygen in at the same time is a nightmare, and it also means that you aren't able to bite down on your shield as you have to breath through your mouth....Under the circumstances its no wonder he looked ****ed. Im surprised that he still has his mando position
The main difference being that Khan had 110 amateur bouts and loads of open class senior experience. Amateur counts.
Nothing can explain why a supposedly 'can't miss', red hot prospect would've gone 9 years as a pro without fighting in a single world title fight. He is not the first fighter to have turned pro without an extensive amateur background
My excitement for this fella has really waned. I find the Kell Brook story boring now. He's become a bit of a joke really.
Spot on, when he used to be under allegedly you would look forward to his fight, especially on the mag 7 cards. Now though, just not really interested. He's fighting a 10 rounder apparently in a July, hopefully he comes through that and faces a quality opponent later on in the year. But I doubt it.
