Jesus, Ricky's comments have been well and truly spinned it seems. He said Floyd used elbows but he didn't blame him as he would do the same. He also talked about how good a fighter PBF is. His 'excuses' if you can call them that were just him talking about where he felt he lost the fight.
Hatton said I thought I was doing all right, I think I was forcing and hes very good at making you miss, I thought I was in the fight, and hes better then I thought at the inside. He could use his forearms to make room for punches and thats how he got me. Hes really good at getting breathers and fiddlin and fightin and uses his elbows. I think hes more natural at the weight then I am. And he was clever more than I expected on the inside, with one or two little sneaky fouls with his forearms and shoulders that abled him to make room for himself. I keep saying its not a tickling contest is it?
Bull****, he fought the same from the opening bell to the point he got knocked out, wide punches, lunging in hugging, it's the only way Hatton knows how to fight. Also i forgot to mention in my original post that Hatton was also using fighting at welter as an excuse, what a joke.
imo there is a difference between making excuses, and giving a reason why something happened. I did not get the impression that Hatton was saying please excuse this loss because Floyd used his forearm. HE said somethin to the effect of I didn't think he would be that good on the inside, and he was clever using his forearm. I think they both surprised each other a little in that fight, and the post fight showed that I think. I don't think Floyd expected to get caught with clean punches, and I know he didn't expect Hatton to slip anything. And on the other team I can't imagine Hatton thought Floyd would be able to hold his own on the inside. THe first thing HAtton said when he came to the mic was something like "That was a big fluke" But it was tongue in cheek.
It wasn't just what he said (which was excuse after excuse) but how he said it, every bit of credit he gave to Mayweather he said in a bitter way with a tone that was saying 'but'. He is not a good loser, his interview reminded me of jones after he got KO'D by tarver, same attitude, same embarassed looks on their faces. Hattons interview? A man with a big ego getting knocked out by someone he doesn't like.
