just saw eastside’s sportsbook and was shocked to see the fight is basically a pick em’ I figured Lara would be a pretty big favorite. Am I wrong about this, how would you guys have handicapped the fight and who do you think is gonna win?
Lara is leading the poll, 31-18. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...letus-seldin-writ-large.600778/#post-18984157
Hurd can win if he does not mind cornering Lara and making him fight. If he let's Lara control this fight in the first 3 rounds it' over for him.
Think Lara still has enough to outbox him To be clear, I’ve NO idea how Hurd makes 154. He looks 2 divisions bigger than Lara and Lara isn’t a particularly small LMW
Hurd has the size and power but he will be working extra hard, if not he loses badly, every round to catch Lara. We know Lara can pop you, score points, and be on the other side of the ring drinking a beer before you know it and the fight is over
Tony Harrison was out boxing Hurd pretty easily for the first half of their fight and Lara is a step up from Harrison
I'm favoring Lara. Hurd is a bit rough around the edges and he's fairly easy to hit. While he's a pressure fighter, he's not a volume puncher like Angulo. He is a big guy with a long reach though, so I can see him giving Lara a lot of trouble.
Better punch picker, several orders more accurate/precise, more experience amateur and pro... He's such a step up from Harrison that it makes you wonder what kind of level Hurd is going to have to step up to, in order to have a chance at winning. He certainly hasn't shown me that level previously, if I'm going to be honest.
Lara turns 35 a week after the fight... Naturally, he's starting to look softer... And he's about to fight a very, very hard man. Hurd is insanely huge. He absolutely dwarfs Lara. There's hints of Margarito in this guy. With his workrate I don't see how Lara gets a decision with his style. This is the first fight I'll put some action on this year. Taking Hurd straight up.
It's a mistake thinking an older Lara who's had fat paydays for cushy matchmaking the last few years is the same fresh, hungry fighter that was robbed vs Punisher. Timing matters. It's the right time for Hurd, and the wrong one with Lara to fight an oversized young gun with something to prove, even if Hurd has the defense of a zombie. Hurds going to knock him out. It won't get to the cards.
I did pick hurd but imo lara wins on points because an inactive trout went late in the fight plus the guy he beat for the title did to so definitely Lara can and his just a completely different level to them and imo hurd doesn't hit as angulo
